has anyone else had any problems with coil boots and plugs at 22k miles. i have an 02gt that has been in the shop now 3 days in a row.. 1st day they replaced #4 plug and boot, yesterday they replaced #s 1 & 6.. now today theyre giving me the speel about aftermarket cai, pulleys, and exhaust and how they dont have to even fix it. i think theyre stumped and are just throwing their hands up in failure... any opinions are greatly appreciated

Jeez...I hate Ford dealers! What is the code that you are pulling up? Give us the codes and we might be able to help.

I say BS...Those parts would have nothing to do with it. Are they pulling the codes is that why they are replacing coils and plugs?

well i actually am a service advisor at a gm dealership (great job security)haha,,, but one of the guys here used his scanner and pulled the code for a misfire on cyl 4,, they replaced just the coil boot, and plug. no coil. same thing yesterday with 1 & 6.

no problem ever before so i cant see all 3 going bad in 2 days... i fell like they should just put a coil on it... they then want to tell me ford will have to come out for a coil replacement.... what b.s.

Hey , one word of advice for ya !!!! when ses light is flashing that means that you are doing damage to your catalytic converters....i would drive the car as little as possible until whatever problem is fixed.....Ford should have told you this right off the bat...It obviously sounds like you have bad misfiring going on there and i cant believe they are having such a hard time figuring out the problem....anyway, just thought id share the info with you....

I am willing to bet it is your crank pulley bolt backing out since you said you have pulleys. When the bolt backs out, the crank pulley wobbles and messes up the timing sensor. Mine did this and I had the exact same problems: SES light, began flashing at highway speeds and engine misfired. The bolt that Steeda tells you to reuse is actually a torque-to-yield bolt. It really isn't intended to be reused. The steeda instructions compensate for this by basically instructing you to torque the hell out of it. Try to re-torque it and see if that helps.

FUNXGT:

Along the lines of what "bennyjammin" said: check the crank position sensor. If the pulley is snugged up properly, then it could be the sensor.

Good luck and please post back with what you find out.
