Setting Needles on Stock gauges

ok i need a little help here...how hard was it to put in your white face gauges where u needed to remove the needles?...is it a little less accurate now than b4 the change? heres my question:

i didnt wanna have to bother with pulling off needles so i got a cluster from a friend with white faces already on it. i never wanted to touch it b/c i didnt want it to be off when i installed it. But last night i basically disected it. lol...but i was thinking since it was from another car, i would have had to remove the needles and RE set them anyway to match the ones in my car correct??

so i guess that doesnt help cause u gotta do it anyway. basically doing the whole thing. and also can u guys post how u set your needles..liek how u recorded the position and got them being accurate..directions all over suck. thanks alot.

If it is a cluster from another car, just plug it into yours and it will work.

but will it be accurate? b/c i jut realized i dont think theres difference in installing a cluster from installing white faces b/c u still have to match the needles..so it will work but i dont think it will be accurate will it?

i would think that you still need to adjust the needles. if you still have the original gauge cluster in place, turn you ignition on and get a piece of paper and draw where the needles are sitting. thats how i ended up doing mine. then when you put the new gague cluster in just move the needles to where they are on your drawing. my needles are very acurate still. my fuel gage was my big consern.

just move them as is swing them to the right spot or u have to place them on in the right spot?

i had to take the needles off completly to put the white face gauges on. thats what your going to have to do. just take them off(be very carefull you don't break them, mine came with a removal tool) and put them back on in there correct location.

It's pretty simple, I just ran the car out of gas or as low as I dared and set the fuel needle to the red line on empty, set the oil pressure to 0 with the motor off and with the car at operating temp set the needle to the middle of the gauge. The speedo sits on the pin as rest and the tach is at 0 with the motor off, but ignition on.

One tip, don't fill the tank and set the gas needle at full, you don't care when it's full, only empty.

i did it the other way around with the gas gage. but i'm sure both will work fine. as for the temp. gage might be easyer to do with the engine cold, just put the needle to the bottom. just another way to do it..
