I test drove a 96 GT over the weekend and right around the 3000-3500 rpm range it fell on its face. Once it got past 3500 it cleared up. The owner said he thought it was because it didnt have mil eliminators. It had a check engine light. It had a UPR x-pipe and a Magnaflow catback. Those were the only mods to the car. Would the lack of mil's cause this or is it more of a iac or maf issue? Im use to 302s and dont have a ton knowledge of the 4.6! Any help would be greatly appreciated :nice:

It could be a number of things actually, but I doubt it's anything serious.

It probably just needs some new spark plugs, fuel and air filter, Seafoam, a MAF cleaning, and/or the MIL eliminators.

As far as the MIL eliminators, you can make some yourself without much difficulty. According to the write-ups that I've read, all you do is splice in some resistors in the 02 sensor wires.

+1 ....one of these is most likely the problem.

It could be a lot of things. my car needed new plugs, spark plug boots and 1 of the coils was bad causing the exact hesitation problem you are describing. It only bogged during certain rpms, and always during WOT. It is most likely not going to be an IAC problem with the symptoms you're describing.
