shaker 1000 worth

I'm not a huge audio guy, but i do like nice sound and kicking base. I'm looking for the same answer, am looking at a new mustang and don't know weather to get the 1000 or not. I currently have the mach 1000 in my 2002 and it is glorious!

I sprung for the Shaker 1000, but after my dealer screwed up the first order, they ate the $1250 for my upgrade on the 2nd car. I love, I did Dynamat the trunk and it sounds way better than before.

no,its not worth it.I HAD the Shaker 1000 and since replaced the head unit, replaced the amps(sounds 100X better) and replced the 2 10"subs with JLW3's in the factory enclosure.BuY the most basic one you can and put good componenets in there.

You can get an after market unit that sounds much better for much less. You can also get ipod controls built into the head unit with displays, etc. Installing satellite radio, HD radio, etc. is also much easier, cheaper and the displays are much better. The sound quality of an aftermarket is also so much better that there really is no question here.
The factory units are way, way overpriced and simply not the same quality as after market units.
I like the factory look, but they just aren't worth the cost.

The skaer subs are mediocre and WAY overppriced. I work For harman international who owns JBL and Infinity audio companies and i get employee discount out the wazoo on good sound systems, but i checked out the shaker 1000 subs. They are definietley not worth the money.

I have the Shaker 1000. I am quite pleased with the sound. Yes, I'm sure that you could get higher quality aftermarket components for the money. I didn't want to mess with aftermarket installation by myself or a professional installer. I think the convience was a big factor for me. Also, while the Shaker head unit is nothing special, I just don't like the look of aftermarket head units. To me, they look like an afterthough in the dash and I rarely see one all that is visually appealing. Just saying to the undecided that material-wise the Shaker 1000 may be overpriced, but it could have value to you in other ways. I don't regret the purchase at all.

I have and like the Shaker1000. It does make a noticeable difference when you tun off/on the trunk subs. I did not want it when I went out looking for my car, but after being a leftover model with HUGE savings already, it was basicaly free to me and with 0 % APR, I said why not?
I've got a friend who works for Crutchfiled, so I also can get quality equipment at deep discounts. The Alpine/Kicker system in my Jetta only cost me $500 total and can run circles around my Shaker 1000!!!!!
Is the Shaker 1000 worth it????? 90% NO!!!!! Either save it for other factory options, aftermarket mods or leave it in your pocket.

Alpine and others are great. And, as was just said, hundreds of dollars cheaper with many more features. It's a no brainer in my opinion.

I have the shaker 1000 (not by choice) and I dont really give a crap. This is a MUSTANG we're talkin about for cryin out loud and the engine sound is what makes me smile not freakin extra bass.
There for a second I thought I was in a effing Navigator/Escalade forum. They way you guys are ravin and braggin about the amps and extra bass, makes one wonder if most of you listen to (c)rap alot instead of real music (rock, hard rock, metal) , cause you dont need the extra bass for REAL music.
Now dont get me wrong I love high end audio equipment, but not in a Mustang. Whats next , some 20" bling blings and neon lights!?

I agree with you in most of the post up until that comment. 99% of what I listen to IS metal. Have you heard the difference with extra bass? 2 of my favs that I will mention that sound kick *** with the extra bass are Pantera and Korn. The sound gets taken to an all new level! There are times I go on my 31 mile commute to work and don't even turn the stereo on just to listen to the engine and exhaust sound!!!!! 2snkaes was merely asking IS it worth it...my answer is NO, but since it was in the car already and I paid $2200 less than sticker, I will gladly accept it.

Stick with the Shaker 500 and don't go after market. Nothing on the after market will give you great sound while not ripping your new car apart. No one will steal your shaker 500 either. The after market industry is dying, there is little reason to ever rip out a factory radio unless you bought a cheap car.

ps. After market radios look like **** in a stang. Don't do it, the 500 sounds amazing when consider just a few years ago factory radios were delcos that didn't even work.

OK you do make a good point there. and what I mean is the value you get for the upgrade.
I know that the extra bass may add a more even to metal songs, but if you compare what you get from the Shaker500, you dont gain a whole lot goin to Shaker1000.

Sorry, I listen to a lot of rock and metal also and bass does make a difference. And 'real music"? C'mon man, just because you don't like this or that there's no reason to belittle anyone else's preferences.

I have the 'Audiophile' package in my SVT Focus, which is also a good OEM system and the S1000 in my Mustang makes my Disturbed CDs sound much better.

I bought my car used, so I didn't really pay for the system, and to be honest I'm perfectly happy with it. I used to be big into stereo systems and I actually look for good OEM systems so I don't have to get back into aftermarket stuff. I'm just so tired of it.

My advice to you is select the option and negotiate the sale price down to get it 'for free'.

That is a great idea to try. If it works, GREAT!!!!! If not, stick with the 500 and keep the extra money in your pocket for aftermarket mods such as the CAI/tuner...that is a great $500-$700 investment that truely makes these cars ROCK!!!!!

That couldnt be further from the truth. I work for a after market company that make "small" parts and it does over a million a month in sales.im guessing you have never been to CES or know what it is?????

The Shakers were designed by some 50 year old guy that thinks a CD player is the newest technology and was made for people that like the sound of a upper class AM radio.

The original question was is it worth it. Hell no.

For the cost of a good 12" sub in a enclosure that takes less space then the factory subs and one good amp with less power then the way over rated 1000, the amount paid is a rip off.
