They way you guys are ravin and braggin about the amps and extra bass, makes one wonder if most of you listen to (c)rap alot instead of real music (rock, hard rock, metal) , cause you dont need the extra bass for REAL music.
I agree with you in most of the post up until that comment. 99% of what I listen to IS metal. Have you heard the difference with extra bass? 2 of my favs that I will mention that sound kick *** with the extra bass are Pantera and Korn. The sound gets taken to an all new level! There are times I go on my 31 mile commute to work and don't even turn the stereo on just to listen to the engine and exhaust sound!!!!! 2snkaes was merely asking IS it worth it...my answer is NO, but since it was in the car already and I paid $2200 less than sticker, I will gladly accept it.
My advice to you is select the option and negotiate the sale price down to get it 'for free'.
Sorry, I listen to a lot of rock and metal also and bass does make a difference. And 'real music"? C'mon man, just because you don't like this or that there's no reason to belittle anyone else's preferences.
I have the 'Audiophile' package in my SVT Focus, which is also a good OEM system and the S1000 in my Mustang makes my Disturbed CDs sound much better.
I bought my car used, so I didn't really pay for the system, and to be honest I'm perfectly happy with it. I used to be big into stereo systems and I actually look for good OEM systems so I don't have to get back into aftermarket stuff. I'm just so tired of it.

That is a great idea to try. If it works, GREAT!!!!! If not, stick with the 500 and keep the extra money in your pocket for aftermarket mods such as the CAI/tuner...that is a great $500-$700 investment that truely makes these cars ROCK!!!!!
That couldnt be further from the truth. I work for a after market company that make "small" parts and it does over a million a month in sales.im guessing you have never been to CES or know what it is?????The after market industry is dying
