I've been having trouble with my Shaker 1000 system skipping around during songs also. This happens on brand new store bought CD's and it won't play MP3's either. It keeps saying bad disc.

Ive had my 05(shaker500) for 2 weeks now and I have noticed that once in a while when Im listentin to a song, it rewinds it back for like 5 second and then plays again,,, it has happened more than 10 times, on different cd's.. ALL original CD's, no mp3,,,and 2 of the CD's brand new with no scratches,,, it's getting kind of annoying,,, could this be a problem that will show more and more the further we go? ,,,,
I just know that if it keeps doin this, I will have the stereo replaced, as long as the replacement won't do the same thing, who knows!,,,,

I just purchased my 05 on 12-3, and I have already had this happen to me at least a half dozen times.

Now I dont think it is the CDs. I saw him today and now the head unit will not even come on. We pulled the fuse but it was good. May just be a defective unit. He said he was taking it in on Mon, the thing I dont get, maybe if the Techs would stop fighting long enough they could tell me, why did they say they would have to pull the unit to get the part number off it so they could order another one. That sounds like 1960s technoligy to me. Dont they have thats stuff on a computer somewhere?

They tried that same BS with me. They wanted to pull the head unit to get a part number for my shaker 500 ???? In order for them to pull the unit they have to removed the two side panels, the front panel which covers the radio and ac/heating controls, and the center island which covers the shifter.

I called FORDs main headqaurters to complain and they told me speak to the Service Manager and it shouldnt be a problem. My new head unit is on the way without my old unit being removed

Maybe they are bad CD-Rs....

Use CD-Rs and not CD-RWs.

Test them in a regular CD player.

These problems started to happen when I got to about 1,000 miles. You will understand if/when it happens to you or maybe you will be lucky.

Ford service personel couldnt get any cd to work in mine just like his.

Plus he said it wont play new bought CDs. So it must be the deck itself.

If a Ford technician presents himself (or herself) as a Ford employee, whether in person or on a board such as this one, then they represent Ford. They should never mouth off to a customer or let a customer push their buttons in such a way as to make them lose their cool. Not in person, and especially not on a board where hundreds if not thousands of current and potential Ford customers will read it. Whether you are anonymous or not, it's just bad for business. Also, if you think some of the top Ford execs don't read boards like this, I think you'd be wrong

Sorry, but I think you are way off base here. I don't represent anything but ME when I am not at work period. I also work at a ford dealer, and I will certainly express my own opinions on this or any other site. If some ******* cuts me off driving down the street, am I not supposed to yell at him because he is driving a FORD and might be a potential customer?

When you are at work getting paid, you represent the company you work for, all other times you represent nobody but yourself.

I have the same problem... Except any CD (MP3, Copy, Original) doesn't work, all I get is "BAD DISK". I brought it to the dealer, they pulled the unit, took whatever number they needed and ordered a new unit... As far as I am concerned, the time it took was nothing (About an hour)... I am sure it will take another hour to install the new unit... As long as it works that is fine with me...

There is a TSB for this. I just had my Shaker 500 replaced because it was skipping. Sorry I dont have the number, but if you go to your dealer, tell them it skips, there is a TSB, look it up you will get the head unit replaced.

As for Ford Techs, my 9 year old would do a better job of fixing things.

I bring my then 1 month old 03 F250 to the service department(I use that term loosely) for a rattle, shudder, and what I think is excessive wind noise around the doors. I truck had 3000 miles so I asked for an oil change. Two days later I got, can hear the rattle, but cant find it. The shudder was normal, I think but would like to drive another F250 to see. Rubber around door was dirty and he cleaned. Lastly the oil change was free because they kept my truck for 2 days. I checked the oil when I got home and it was not changed. Fastforward about 1 year and I find on a Ford Truck site that the shudder is the carrier bearring is misaligned and needs about 1/2 - 1 inch shim. Back to the dealer with this information and they replace the clutch packs in my l/s rear end. Give the truck back and first take off notice the shudder. Finally ended up making the shims at work and install them at home, shudder gone.

To get my stereo replaced the Ford Tech put the shift boot on backwards, did not reconnect the heating-a/c-fan controls back up and the plastic upper console has tabs to fit into the lower console and they are not in the slots. Very, very poor workmanship.

Sorry to hear about your dealer service problems but that seems to be par for the course. My local dealer's service department has been fairly good so far. Maybe I just got lucky.

Thought this would have been fixed by now. Shaker 500 skips on freshly burned cd's. Just picked up my car on July 4. Dealer said it was built in June so it appears Ford hasn't fixed nothing yet.

My service department scratched my E-brake handle when replacing my shaker 500, but they replaced the handle without question.

Still waiting for my handle to be replaced. Now there's a scratch on the panel over the glovebox too.
