Shaker 500 vs Shaker 1000

I am undecided whether or not to upgrade. It is a rather pricey option. I have always been a stereo nut and have several 12" subs and several powerful amps kicking around.

Can those of you with experience with the Shaker models please report back with sound quality and amount of bass either model produces?

Thanx.

I don't know about the Shaker, but the older Mach 460 vs. Mach 1000, the Mach 1000 blows the 460 out of the water. It is well worth the extra money. From what I've heard the Shakers and the Machs sound almost identical.

When I bought (at least I ordered one, I wish I had it :nonono:) my GT a few days ago the salesman told me it was very much like the Mach system. I asked a friend of mine who has heard the two pretty much side by side (the Shaker 500 and the 1000) the next day and there was no contest, the 1000 was superior in lows and highs with regard to both bass and treb. I wish I could tell you first hand how it sounds. Unfortunately, that won't happen until January of 2005 it seems.

I'm not sure if they are making the Shaker system, but they (Visteon) made the Mach stereo system. I would think that they are making the Shaker system also. See the below link:

Thanks for the link sonicblue. I noticed that they are somehow affiliated with Boston Acoustic, and if you've ever heard a nice set of those babies being pumped by 300+ watts then you'll be happy with either the 500 or the 1000. Had a '72 Monte Carlo (sorry dieharders, :D ) and got 6x9 Boston Acoustics and let me tell you, people thought I had subs in the trunk with those puppies. I'm really really going to explode I think before my GT arrives.

500 watts is more than enough output for me. Maybe if I was 18 years old and wanted to show off for my friends I would think about it but for 1295.00 I would stick with the 500 ... It sounds awesome :)

I really didn't want the shaker 1000 but the only one I could find in the color I wanted already had it. It's worth it in my opinion, I will never have to upgrade, and you can turn the subs in the trunk off if you want. My friend just paid a shop to put a 1300 dollar system in his mustang and I was not impresed. The shaker 1000 rocks

Yea, depends how old you are and what kind of music you like, me 40 Heavy Metal, after a 20 minute ride home from the dealer I had a head ache  Had to drink a beer and take a asprin :bang:

Yep, all depends. I am ordering an SVT around 08' or 09' and will probably just get the stock unit(Shaker 500) and upgrade that. I figure by then I'll just want something that makes my GnR cd sound really good. :D

From what I understand, the Mach 1000 was not offered in the Cobra because it offset the weight dist. with the subs in the back. It was only offered the first year of the Mach 1000, but only for a bit. Not sure how they will work the shaker system into the new, yet to be seen, Cobra's.

Do either the 500 or the 1000 put out mirror shaking bass?

Don't know about the 500, but the 1000 absolutely does shake the mirror - cool at a stoplight, less cool when trying to change lanes at speed. You can feel the bass in your chest. Drove around recently with friend who had a mixed rap CD and I actually had to adjust the bass to a lower setting because the bass response was giving me a queasy feeling in my stomach. COOL!
