Shaker system

But it does look cool. I have considered it just cause of how nice it looks. I just dont understand why none of these companies sell the entire kit and when I say the entire kit I mean including the mach1 hood not cutting out the stock GT hood. It looks so much better that way. As far as performance your definately better off going with something else.

  1. Hoods are rather large, and more difficult to ship.
  2. Hoods need to be painted.

The KarKraft kit uses the Mach 1 hood, which I agree yields a better looking result, but requires you to buy the hood locally.

Mine was surprisingly easy to do... It was like it shoulda come that way from the factory!

that makes absolutely no sense:scratch:
many hoods need painting, theyre shipped. If you want a 01-04 scoop, you can also get the hood with it, shipped. Yet, they both need to be painted and get em to your house or business.

Well, I did say "more difficult", not that it was impossible.

Are you claiming that one could just toss the hood into the same box as the scoop, bracket and air tube, and ship it all UPS?

At least from what I have experienced, hoods need to shipped by truck. That, all by itself, fits my definition of "more difficult" to ship especially to a private home. ;)

I got the CDC system on mine. My understanding then was that the Mach1 hood wouldn't line up correctly for the Shaker... ?

Yes, using the CDC supplied bracket for the scoop, the scoop will not align with the hole in the Mach 1 factory hood.

The KarKraft kit uses a different bracket which does successfully align the scoop with the hole in the Mach 1 factory. It is just that KarKraft leaves it up to you to get the factory hood through your local Ford dealer.

has anybody successfully accomplished this mod? .. I'm just curious to see any pics you might have.. and any performance enhancements it may have caused.

Sorry, this should have been my first posting here since it helps to actually answer your question.

The TV show "Horsepower", on SpikeTV, installed the CDC kit on a black Mustang convertible (a 1996, I believe) project car they have been using for several upgrades.

You might want to see if you can catch that episode. They showed all the steps involved in installing it (boy, did they make it look easy and quick!), and did the before/after comparisons.

I put the shaker on mine, I like it better than the mach 1 hood. I would have gone with the mach 1 type systems if there were more aftermarket hoods available. The CDC one took about 1.5 hours to install, including cutting and cleaning. www.cardomain.com/id/myponyrocks13 No real differences in speed, nothing that I can prove... I'm still in denial that I spent 900 bucks (including paint and tools) for 3 HP, but damn it looks good :p

So. If I get the Mach 1 shaker and hood from Ford they won't line up on my 2K3 GT and that's why I should go with KARKRAFT kit if I want the OEM look?

The Mach 1 and the GT have different engines. Therefore, the bracket needed to connect shaker to the engine is different. Ford makes only the bracket for the Mach 1 engine. KarKraft makes a custom bracket for the GT engine.

Other than for the brackets, the parts are the same.

The Hood WILL Line up, the shaker will not w/out the proper brackets. Just to let you know, the CDC applique DOES NOT look like an add on or cheesy. It fits nice and snug. I can understand wanting the Karkraft kit, I almost went that way myself, but if you ever want a S/C the CDC kit can accomadate that, not sure if the Karkraft kit can.
