Shell Gas

I'm sure ya'll seen the commercial for Shell gas and how clean it burns.
They show you a valve out of a car that burned bargain gas, as they put it, and then one out of a car that burned only Shell gas. Of course the Shell gas left no deposites.
Personally, I think it's all...

What do ya'll think, true of false?

There appears to be something to Shells claim.

I don't know if it is or not.

However, I do make a point to go to a particular Shell station because I get better mileage.. Crazy, I know.

I would definately choose Shell over Arco. I don't car what anyone says, Arco is good for rental cars, but not my cars. Plus, their stations suck.. always packed and most of them do not have pay-at-the-pump..

I stopped using Shell and switched to BP. The commercials trapped me in, too. But after a few dyno sessions, I realized the Shell just wasn't working for me. My AFR was pretty crazy. Switched to BP and it all went away. (I'd tried several Shell stations). All I can figure is that my 3V didn't like the alcohol that's in Shell's gas.

I use Shell mostly and right now you get a free microfiber towel with a 10 gallon fill-up. hehe.

I would guess that the claim is true.

The real questions would be:

"Is this a bargain brand that is even available in the United States, or is it only sold in some foreign country?"

"If this bargain brand is available in the United States, is it widely available, or is it only available at some station that Shell set up so it could make its claim?"

I use Chevron. Service techs told me that the Techron additive in Chevron is good stuff.

Okay, I'm skeptical. Come on Shell, tell us the name of this "bargain brand."

I use either Shell or Exxon and always 93 octane. I can't tell a difference between the two as my mileage always stays within about 2-3 MPG each tank.

Me I use Chevron 93, and every 4th tank I'll add a pint of Techron Injector cleaner. No problems with plug RR, or carbon build up. Just my $.02 worth.

I run BP cause the gas cap says to hee hee. Actually I did before it was on the cap. Back in the day I ran texico, but there's no stations left around here. I guess they all moved south.

I always had great luck with Shell V-power in my Nissan.

The mustang ran fine until the 93 tune now I think Shell is a bit more knock prone for some reason. I just filled up with Texaco last night and the car ran real nicely! I wonder if the computer learns how to drive based on what gas you put in it. I'll explain. At first when I got the car i used mostly Texaco (read cheapest on the block) then the Shell went down and went with it almost exclusively.

I forgot to mention that Chevron seems to be very knock prone with my car. Can't say about Exxon because I stay the heck away from them and Citgo which have the worst quality oil.

ok i hate all you.. no were in northern cali do they sell 93 only 91 !!!! DAMN EMISSIONS !

Fixt Emissions might have some to do with it, but sea level also does. Higher octane fuel is just not needed as much at lower elevations, I believe. I remember when I went to Californiastan, I was shocked to see 85 octane. You don't see that in the midwest lol.

I've always wondered why people mention 93.. Other than at a commercial station, I had never even heard of it before..

I drive about 200 to 300 evry day gas doesn't stay in long enought to cause problems. have always ran the best price i could find never had problems

This was taken a few months ago($2.99 for 93...oh how I remember the days)in Maryland. First time I can recall seeing four octanes available.

I've also seen California called "The People's Republic of Kalifornia"

I thought you did not need the higher octane fuel as much at higher elevations.

My God I'd hate to buy right of way from that sunoco. The environmental clearance for all those tanks has to be a BIA#^.

I'm not sure which way it goes, but I do remember that the only time I saw 85 octane was when I was in the south west. Once I came back to the north, the lowest was 87.
