The leather part or the rubber part? The leather part just pops off, just pull on it. The rubber part has 4 bolts holding it down. Hope this helps.

pop off the bezel that goes around it (plastic, and clips becareful) using a clip puller or a screwdriver and pop it off, take off your shift knob, and the boot and plastic i believe slide off together, or you'll see where the boot is bolted.

there are 4 bolts...10mm i think
you should be able to tell just by looking at it.
is the stick steel or aluminum, is it short or tall, and is it soft or solid when you bang it around?

a set of ratcheting box end wrenches really helped with the front two bolts (notch - i think you are right. my recollection was that they were either 8 or 10 mm, and 10 sounds more likely). some folks have clearanced the stock center console itself to get access to those bolts and some remove the center console. i was able to slowly get them out with a ratcheting box end. good luck.
