Shift kit for aod

What would be the best shift kit for an AOD, I have a 90 fox

b&m makes them, performance automatic makes them, and transgo makes them. the general opinion is that the transgo is the best kit, it's also the most expensive, you can get them for around 80 90 bucks with out the video, or like 100 to 120 with the video. i bought mine without the video and i think the video would have made it easier, i'd recomend the one with the video if you never done a shift kit before........

I put a B&M kit in my old 97 F150 4.6 w/ 4R70W AOD. It was a simple install, very good instructions. 2 choices of shifting, rv/street and strip. Worked very well, they even give you the drill bits. I had never installed a kit before, with the instuctions they gave me I didn't need a video..and I'm scared to death of auto trans's.

Transgo has like 5 different settings, some people don't like to have that many choices, me included. I just went with tried and true B&M.

I could get a 2nd gear scratch in that F150. Especially when I had the B&M electronic shift improver on at the same time. Man, that hit hard, too hard.

I got a b&m kit, set at stage 2 street/strip level... it gives a good solid shift on the 1-2 and 2-3...it shifts at about 5000-5100 on the 1-2, and about 4800-4900 on the 2-3... i love it.. i think you would too!

Also, the shift kit worked excellent with the Superchip I had on the truck. The chip changed the shift points and firmed them up, the shift kit firmed the shifts up a bit more.

Transgo kit with the video was awesome. I was scared to death tho crack open the aod. BUt with the video it was easy.

Neck snapping shifts. I think 5200 at wot. Well worth the 100 bucks.

don't know about the ford kit, did'nt know they made one. from what i understand, the transgo while it firms up shifts also is supposed to do something with the pressure thats supposed to be better for the tranny but, with an aod their kinda squirly anyway so i'm not positive on that. as for the shift kits in general, summit and e bay is a place to start. i got mine from evil bay but it was the one without the video, the transgo...try doing a search on it in here as well i know theres some more info on shift kits as when i did mine i searched and posted.
