i wanted to add a shift kit to my tranny. its for a 87 mustang. the problem i have with it is that it shifts out too soon. most people tell me you have to take out the tranny and take it apart to install one. but i was looking at some and most of them say that you dont have to take apart the tranny. if i was to get one how would i install it?

Transgo kits come with all instructions and the best part.... a video. I've done three and they all turned out good. It will change the shift points too. The one I did for my first AOD years ago worked great. 1-2gear shift would bark the tires pretty good. No tranny removal needed. Take the pan off, valve body out, change some springs, drill some holes, new filter and thats about it. Just take your time and do it when you know you won't be interupted. Mike

another option is to check out a modified valve body. it's like a shift kit but with more options on shift points, manual shifting, things llike that. Lentech makes the best but you can get a PA from jegs or summit for a lot less.

Thats a good point,if you really want to make that AOD work and do away with the AOD shuffle a manual VB is perfect. I use the PA performance VB with OD on a switch. If you plan on racing it with sticky tires try the one with the transbrake. Launching off the 2 step is a blast. Mike
