I'd recommend using a tuner who will already know what the shift points should be ... I highly recommend Justin from VMP Tuning.

x2 for VMP

As far as your shift points, what is done to your car? Basic bolt on's? I know mine was set to 6500 by the tuner and I have yet to hit the rev limiter, I probably shift at about 6-6200 at the track myself with mods in sig.

Thanks guys,,,,,i have a Vortech 4;10 gears and a 3k stall converter.... Im getting Motion Delete plates put in and my car has to go on the dyno anyway.... BUT i want the Partial/mild throttle shifts raised. The WOT shifts are fine.

And my tunner insists that i tell him where i want it to be. Do you guys know if its the MPH or RPMs that determine when the car shifts....again im only concerned with MILD/PARTIAL throttle shifts.
Thanks for your guys help!!!!!!!

In my XCAL II in the actual tune it is RPM, set in the Advantage III software the tuner uses. In the user defines settings of the handheld you can further modify it by % MPH.

One of the advantages of driving a manual. Picking your own shift points as you drive along.

I, too, have a Vortech, 4.10's, big stall converter, automatic, etc. WOT shift points & firmness is easy to set and you said yours is fine.

I spent a couple hours at our local dyno shop having the tune rewritten for shift points, converter lock up, driveability, etc. The shift points for partial throttle can be set for various throttle positions (% open) to raise higher and higher as throttle position increases. This is likely what you're after. Line pressure can also be adjusted to alter shift firmness at various throttle positions, too. These parameters couldn't be adjusted on my handheld tuner, but the dyno operator adjusted them on his much more elaborate PC-based software. He then downloaded that tune into my handheld tuner, which I uploaded into the car via the OBD-II port.

After the dyno operator set some shifting parameters initially, I went out and drove the car around, then right back into his shop to tweak those parameters. Repeated the test drive and tweak about a half dozen times until it was dialed in perfectly to my liking. Took a few hours of his time, and at $150 per hour it wasn't cheap, but in the end I got a converter that flashes & locks up when I want, plus a trans that shifts absolutely perfectly and intuitively.
