Shifting Troubles

Ever since i got this car. It has always felt like the shifter hits a wall before the shifter actually engages all the way into gear. It is pretty much every gear. Is there something wrong with my car? If i could go straight in I know that it would help my shifting so much more. Any ideas?

Take off your shift boot and see if u have an aftermarket shifter. If so you might need to adjust the stop bolts.

Mine does the same, only I just installed a Tri-ax. It's almost like a two-motion method to get it in gear. It's like you have to hesitate just a little if you want it to go all the way into the gear. I have adjusted the stops correctly and everything and still can't figure out what the problem is.

It suck when you're trying to cycle through the gears fast and kind of defeats the purpose of my short throw shifter.

You may have to open up the tranny to find out what the problem is. There are so many things that would cause this ( syncros, shifting fork ) try changing the fluid to a synthetic and see if that helps. If not time for a rebuild or a tremec. The cheapeast rebuilt kit I found when my tranny went south was from D&D performance $175.

i would say synchros or a bent shifting fork....

i think you need to put some redline synthetic atf in it. That will most likely cure it. you need a better fluid in their= will also prolong tranny life

it's hard to believe that all the syncros went out, i would say shift fork. definatly not the shifter i have a tri-ax and mine slides right into gear.
