shims for valve tappets???

I have had two instances over the past 1.5 yrs where two of my rockers just fell off...So HP was going to send me some shims...Was supposed to take 3-4 days, this was two weeks ago...I have sinced talked to HP and they said they were shipped but they still aren't here...My q is, what can I use for shims?? Can I get like some stainless steel washers somewhere or something??? I need these so I can put my motor back in!!!!

SHM carries shims but they would have to be shipped to you, too.

I would be careful about using washers. Because they are not precision pieces, there will be variation between each washer.

Call HP and ask for a tracking number so you can find out the whereabouts of the "real" shims.

There is a reason why the rockers are falling off. Have you measured the clearance between the roller and the lash adjuster (should be between 0.018" and 0.033")? You need a solid lifter to measure the clearance properly.

See the last time I called he said to call back a little later and he would get me a tracking # so I figured they were out...That was about 5 days ago and still nothing....

Ask HP for a tracking number. I have had good luck with HP (not that I am a frequent customer). It is entirely possible that the shipping company has misplaced a small package and needs a wake-up call to go find it. Fox Lake may carry shims, too, if you want to give them a try.
