so ill spare everyone the long frustrating story and cut to the point. ive got
4" cervini cowl hood that im trying to ship BACK to cervini's in new jersey. i know a lot of you guys ship fairly large packages trading parts and buying stuff from classifieds and what not, so my question is, whats the cheapest way i can safely get this hood back to cervinis? not looking to spend a ridiculous amount on shipping if id be better off selling it on clist or something.

Why are you shipping it back to them? Something such as a hood can be a PIA!

Do you have the original packaging? Probably shipping it thru the same carrier they used to ship it to you would be the best bet.

Shipping will be over $125. Why do you want to return it?

I have to return it because my body shop bought it to repair my car and I declined the repair so I could keep the cash. The body shop now wants me to pay shipping for them to return it( they have been attempting to screw me out of my money for a couple weeks now) and I don't trust them to give me an honest price on shipping. So I was trying to get some guesses as to how much it should be.

They should have verified it with you before getting it, that is there problem. I wouldn't pay anything if it were me.

It was a huge communication disaster. I'll be getting the 3k once all this is settled. So if they want me to buy the hood I'll pay the $606 that it's worth, and then sell it and take a small loss, but they're asking $750 and that's just not gonna happen. This has been going on for quite a while now. When I asked them to return it they first claimed it was 1)a special order that can't be returned 2)they didn't buy it from cervinis 3) that I could buy it and return it myself.

Yes it's a cervini hood. They let that slip when I first spoke with them ( I don't think they wanted me to look up a price). And yes I know they won't take a return from a secondary owner. That's why I'm refusing to take it. That and they're asking $150 too much.

Well the shipping is gonna bite you about that much anyway so may as well just keep the hood you have and save the hassel of it all.
Go back to the shop and say look, I know you paid $606 and I will give you a fair 10% mark up so to keep this easy. My lawyer said it would be the easiest way to handle it. If not then he will call you to make whatever legal arrangements need to be made.

Alright....what am I missing her? First off....why would the body shop go ahead and buy an aftermarket hood to repair the damage to your car, when a factory hood can be had for a couple hundred dollars? I don't know of any body shop that would pull something like that without the owners expressed permission. As a matter of fact, I know of plenty of body shops that when repairing a vehicle for insurance purposes, won't put anything "but" the factory hardware back on your vehicle....so what gives?

Did you OK the hood without asking them what it was going to cost and are now declining it because you don't like the price they're charging you? If that's the case, I'd say you're SOL.

No that's not the case at all. I already had a 4" cowl. The body shop was putting together a parts list for an ESTIMATE. They then sent the estimate to insurance. Insurance was supposed to be sending me the check for the amount In the estimate and I was to decide to fix it or not. They called and said that they accidentally sent the money straight to the body shop. That's why the body shop begAn ordering parts. The body shop, my agent/the adjuster, all thought different things were happening.

i'd tell them to f*** off, they shouldn't have ordered parts before you gave them the go-ahead. it's not your problem that there was miss-communication between the body shop and your insurance.

Now you see what I've been dealing with for about 2 months. If it's not finished with by Friday I'm getting my lawyer involved.

FedEX will ship it for $328. Looks like I'll be buying the hood. It'll be in the classifieds in a few days.

how is it that your buying the hood, if you didnt pay any money for it, then its thiers, stand your ground, its your car, and you have the approval in the end for whatever work gets done to it.

Get the police involved if you have to
