Shock tower repair/reinforcement kit

Ok so its a cracked shock tower? I was unclear as to what the A frame was you were talking about in the previous post. Ive never used the kit, but I have fixed cracked towers before. Id say theres nothing wrong with using a kit like that as long as its done right.

Yeah, I'm a bit confused too... Are you saying you've got damaged shocktowers and damage at the strut rod mounting point? Probably the best thing to do is post some pics of what you're talking about. If you can't post them, email them to me and I'll host them.

Anyway, depending on how badly damaged your shocktowers are, the kit may be ok. However, if the towers have shifted, collapsed, or are severely damaged (gaping cracks), then replacing them entirely is probably a better solution. I had to have this done when I bought my Mach back in 1988, and that was before replacing shocktowers was as common as it is these days.

lol my car is a basket case. I have the cracked A- frame and bad shock towers. I don't have the engine out of the car yet so I dont know how bad the shock towers are. From what I can see, the export brace had to be bent pretty badly so that they will mount from the cowl to the shock towers. Also the A frame is cracked, from what I see not to badly. I'll post pictures later on today so I can make everything more clearer.

The fender aprons DO NOT have to come out....in fact leaving them in is what helps you get the shock towers located properly. Putting in new towers is not a bad job if you have the tools, a welder, some patience, and time.

Jeez, you might need to take the motor and tranny out and try to level the car on jack stands from the firewall back on a nice flat slab. Then take some diagonal measurements of the front subframe and measurements to the slab and see if what you have is at all square. If you're looking at a restore job, you'll probably need to replace most of the front clip substructure. If you don't care, you might look into getting a prewelded front subframe that will tie all the way back to the rear subframe eliminating the need for subframe connectors. This would most likely be a 2x3 or 2x4 subframe, Art Morrison is one that I know that makes one and can make it to mimic the factory dimensions the closest. This way you could go with either a Pinto or Mustang II style front suspension and eliminate the shock towers all together. You'd have to fabricate some way to mount the exterior sheet metal, but if it's really a basket case, you might go with a fiberglass front clip. If you intend on driving on the street in possibly inclimate weather, you'll want to make some splash pans that cover the wheel well area, this is pretty easy if you add a full cage to the car with some front down tubes that go out to the front subframe (and is mandentory in a Pinto style suspension as the coil overs mount here).

Yeh after looking over my shock towers, they are leaning in soo much that the export brace had to be bend severely to get them to fit. So after looking at that, might go with the mustang II front end conversion. you'll see in the pics when I get someone to host them.
