I know that the shock towers tend to sag inward towards each other and that the cure is a monte carlo bar. But what is their tendency vis a vie the firewall? The reason I ask is I have just installed these adjustable export braces. You put them on and then twist one way to shorten them, placing them under a preload tension that pulls them toward the firewall, or the other way, to push them towards the radiator. I decided to push and not pull. I would appreciate if those persons more knowledgable than I (all I know is that I know nothing) would please weigh in and opine as to the soundness of my choice.

The towers do not tend to sag towards the firewall as readilly as they do towards each other. The front frame-rails are pretty strong if they are not degraded by rust or some PO with a sawzall, they would be suspect of you had any significant longitudinal sagging.

But you were correct to push and not to pull
