Shocks and struts question...

Awhile back i bought some KYB gr-2's for pretty cheap brand new cause my mom was a service writer and had connections. I got fronts and rears. Now i have eibach springs and i've heard that if you put non-adjustables on a lowered car the springs will kill the shocks. Would it be wise to buy adjustables and sell these? Right now they are still in the box, i was wondering cause i now have an oppurtunity to put them in at school and i need to know over the weekend.

i haven't

seen plenty of people do it without any problems

Well maybe i'm just hearing things or have the wrong impression, you know how that is. And i already got the KYB's, Bilsteins would be nice but w/e .

As long as they're Eibach Pros you should be okay. I have heard that the Sportlines are brutal on stock dampners (but then again, stock ones are junk anyways).

i'll be a little more careing and give some actual advice.

no, you do not need adjustables, for anything. dont get adjustables. because if yo are having to ask if they are needed then you dont know how to use them/wont use them/will use them wrong. either go ahead and use the KYB, or go ahead and sell them, as you were going to do anyhow, and get some bilsteins. if you need to ask why search bilstein, many threads with my opinions, as well as others in it.

some people like tokico, i dont personally. some people like KYB... i dont personally. i like bilstein and koni, no need for an adjustable, and the bilsteins are better for the MM coilovers, so i made my choice. going to be replacing my bilsteins HD (entry level and good for 98% of the mustangs out there) with sport valved for much more aggressive springs in 3 months.

i rolled around with sportlines and stock shocks/struts for almost a year(up until last week)

its wasnt bouncey or anything like that, it was just REALLY stiff, going over bumps would shake the whole car, but it wasnt an awful ride. but on the other hand, when i removed them, they didnt feel all that worn out, not nearly as stiff as the bilsteins, but i've seen MUCH worse from other stock shocks/struts.

the bilsteins are much nicer, the car handles tons better, and its a softer ride.

i was planning on betting some tokico blues, but ended up with the bilsteins cause i got an awesome deal on them

youre gonna have to tell me how the Sports are. i have the HDs with 350 front and 175 rears Hyperco springs. .

going 375 front 250 rear, or possibly 400/275.... it should be firmer but zero bounce like you see on every lowered civic. really looking forward to it, but i am still waiting on my damn EvM trilink to get in before i can even think about it.

i'd love to say that you are a traitor, but honestly if i could get an a4 quattro i would. once i get my lisence i will be picking up an S4/RS4 (depending on whats out at the time)... only going to take the next 7 years... sigh.... oh well, 100k a year is worth the time

it wasn't my choice, chit happens and you have to take a dive for financial reasons, oh and this sucks in the turns compared to my cobra

different driving style, start the turn wider, turn in harder and accellerate into and through.... worked with my friends BMW 328IX you can make the audi a mofo for the corners. after all, they win championships...

...and Tom, you have something we don't......4 wheel drifts. I've driven quite a few Audis over the years and the Quattro is definately good for that. Plus when you're done playing in the snow, you don't have to worry about getting stuck. Just be sure to turn you're ASR off before you go play (can't remember if the '99s had it or not). It sucks like the Mustang traction control...

I never heard of anyone having that problem.
Get some Bilstien struts and shocks Tally you will like them.
Also they will last you a long time to come.

Well i got brand new KYB's so i'm just gonna put em in while i have the chance. Money is an issue now as i am a broke college kid and i'm already savin up for tires. Down the line i'll prolly spring for some Bilsteins.

ASR is only on the fwd models for my year

I installed Sportline springs and a Pro3 c/c kit at the same time. The ride was very stiff...and I'm definitely "spirited" in corners, and a daily basis. I ended up installing KYB adjustable shocks/struts (I wanted Billstein a little more, but I got a great deal), and I love them.

Not that I advocate street racing, but as another Mustang and I were going through a curve (it was empty), and when we hit the apex of the curve I watched him roll in my rearview as I stayed planted, WOT. My power advantage was negligable as I was basically stock at the time, but I still came out at least a dozen car lengths ahead, and I'm being conservative with my estimate. It really made me smile. I do have 275/40/17s all the way around, as well.
