Hello all I'm doing a lot now to get my car together. When I'm in the car by my self I have never had a problem but a good friend of mine came in town so there I was bragging about my old car gaining Value wile our friends with the new cars only loose value. so we go for a ride and when we made that first rt turn a very loud bad sound so I got out to see what it was and the tire had pulled the edge of the fender down ( that sucks I will get the fenders rolled ).

I do think I need to replace the shocks and springs after that day I got some of those spring spacers that you put on with a ratchet I had some of the ones that are made of rubber but I could not get them in I lifted the car and used a strut tool to compress some of the coils but just could not get them in.

How do I know what to replace or should I just do both as they are from 1969?

My thing is that I have had some contact with a bad set of shocks my Dad had an old Lincoln town car and it rode great but when the shocks went out that thing went up and down like a ship at high seas! My car does not do that.

The springs I admit are sitting a little low (which I really like the looks)

Please help with choices to fix the this problem the rims (see my picture) are 14" the tire size is P 215/70R14 96S M+S Its a 69 sports roof.:flag:

When I had a similar problem with my 67, it turned out to be the upper control arm. It broke through the bushing mount. Look for similar problems, and also, if its been awhile since you replaced the shocks, do them. As for the springs, not a big issue.

suki243 is right. If you push down on your fender a couple of good times, the car should bounce back to stop in just one move. Yet if it just bounces up and down, up and down, you need shocks. Yet, if you have stiff springs, this test wont work. I know from personal experance with my Trans AM, super damn stiff springs, did the bounce test, and all looked good. Yet when I had to pull the struts for something (can't remember now), I realized they were completely wasted. No strength to them at all! My whole suspension was spring pressure.

Air ride?

Has anyone used one of their kits I like the idea of being able to drop my car to show off and bring it up to ride hight to get home. for the ft and rear it looks to cost about $6,000.oo (I will have to save a whole lot to get there though) any thoughts any one?
