I just bought a 65 302 mustang, and absolutley love it. I couldnt imagine driving any other car. its all manual (steering and brakes) but i dont mind at all. Anyways, it does have a few problems though. This is where i need advice.

First, i need a new carburetor. What kind would you recommend? I was recommended by a friend on getting a Edelbrock 600 CFM Electric choke. Where is a good (cheap) place to get it? Dallas mustang is about 270.00 new. And is the carburator all i need, or is their other things that go along with it?
(i have a manual choke by the way).

also, the back sags so much, on some turns it scrapes the tires. I was told i need new springs and shocks, but I have no idea which ones. Is their a kit for the shocks and springs? what exactly do i need to buy, and is their a good site to get them from?

Thanks for the help!

There are many opinons on these. Each one of us has come up with something that works for us. Mine is an Edelbrock 500 cfm carb and mid eye 5 leaf rear springs. The carb and many other items have come from Jegs and the springs from American Pony. Both available on the web and both have folks to advise. A 600 cfm carb is overkill and can cause less throttle response. If you are running wider than stock wheels and tires you may have to roll your wheel well lips.

A lot of ground to cover with a single post. Please try "searching" the different areas and you might check some of the signatures on the boards or go to the different individual web sites.

Fordhorsemen,

Give us some more information on your car. What size carb is currently on the engine? What intake? Stock cam and heads or aftermarket? What about your exhaust? dual exhaust? what size? There are a lot of knowledgeable people on this board that can help get you going in the right direction.

Also, what is your vision for your completed car? Are you going for a concourse restoration, a grocery getter, a drag car, a auto cross car, a full track car? Your suspension design will be guided by your vision of your cars final outcome.

Give us some more information and there are a lot of people that will be willing to help out.
