I've noticed over the weekend that my shocks are starting to go. I was wondering what most of you run on your mustang and which shocks are the best ones for our cars.

Thanks

Matt

I've got Bilstein shocks and struts, and the ride is awesome, but I changed the springs at the same time. Bilsteins are really good though, but spendy.

I'm running the Bils as well. They completely transformed the feel of the car. A very worthwhile investment in my opinion. FYI, I didn't change anything except the shocks/struts. I didn't change the springs until a year or so later (when I swapped to coilovers, front and rear).

That's a good deal rio

I was under my car tonight and i'm thinking the noise that i hear from my car when i have a load on it is the shock type of thing that holds the rear end from moving from back and forth. It's bolted from the rear end to the trunk pan of my car. Dont know what it's called though

Quite simply, a strut actually locates the wheel whereas a shock only controls spring oscillation. On a Mustang, there are struts up front and shocks in the rear. If you were to remove the struts, the wheel would just flop around avery which way. If you were to remove the shocks, the car would be really bouncy out back, but would drive just fine (since the control arms and springs actually determine the location of the tires).

I use to use the soft setting when my wife was pregnant and it felt loose. I have it full firm and it doesn't bother me until I hit a pothole.

I run lakewood 50/50s in the back, 90/10 for the front. I like them. I'm not too picky with ride quality but it feels fine on the street to me. Easily controled, not too bouncy.

rio,

here are some pics with the h&r's. The cars on my steep driveway, but you get the idea. I also have pics in my "life sucks" thread.

p.s. i am thinking about getting wheel spacers, but i can't decide. It would probably be like a half inch to an inch. what do ya think???

got to go pick up my shocks now!!
