Depends on what you are going to do with your car...if you are going to drive it on the road like an average human being with the occasional tire squeal then you won't notice one drop of difference between bilsteins and a parts house set of monroe-matics. But if you are looking for a quality shock, bilsteins, KYB, Koni are all fine brands.

I went from KYB's to Edelbrocks and the ride was a lot better.A little softer yet still controlled when pushed.

I've had KYB gas-a-justs and GR2, Konis and Bilsteins. Gas-a-just are too stiff for me, especially over speed bumps. Bilsteins are very good but IMO there is nothing like Konis.

If you are on a budget put the gas-a-justs on the front and GR2s in the back.

Everything I have seen indicates that the Gas-A-Justs are better with firmer springs. I have them under my '68 with original springs and they can be a bit harsh over choppy pavement. Fortunately I have some 620 coils ready to go in. I have also had cheap shocks like Monroes under stock-springed classic Mustangs and they're not too bad. What is best depends on your budget and whether ride quality or handling carries more weight.

I had Konis for years, but when I moved from FL to PA they were just too harsh for the roads, so I went with Gas-A-Just.

I had gas adjusts.... hated them. I contacted Alex at Moneymaker racing and he set me up with a shock from calvert. My car is performance orientated, and these shocks are sweet. They ride better than KYB and work well. Alex knows a lot about these cars and has a Mustang that he races as well. Shoot him a call. 219) 861-1214. Real nice guy, he will answer all your questions. Tell him Manny from Garrett Turbochargers sent ya!

Call RCD for bilstiens. They helped me with some custom valved coilovers. Just because there isn't a part # for a 71, doesn't make it imposible (or expensive). It's worth a phone call.
