Shop refused to tune my car....

i had intermittent problems with my 76mm C&L. got a 80mm ProM and love it. haven't had any problems. As far as what the tuner is saying, it's probably like Grady was saying, they probably won't make a profit on it, so they don't want to do it.

might want to look into another tuning option. I know the PMS is expensive, but rick anderson gives you a base tune to work with when you buy it.

+1 on walking out of the shop when a C&L is mentioned. I have a 80mm MAf and 70mm TB. The top end of my motor flows a lot less than yours does and mine runs like a champ and is extremely reliable. I think that him telling you this stuff was crazy.
A. Your MAF is not too big for your set up.
B. Your TB is not too big for your setup
C. I'm suprised after what he said that he wasn't trying to sell you those parts cause that is where the conversation sounded like it was going.

Your right in wanting to find a new tuner good luck in your search.

Sorry for the delay all, been workin :D

Thanks for all the input and those were some great perspectives...I wont name the shop due to the tone of the thread. The bottom line is that this guy has already made my car 10000% better since the last shop messed it up, and has treated me well. He wanted me to drive it for a couple weeks before tuning to make sure it was mechanically sound.

I just think these large parts he's not used to seeing on a 302, and I doubt he's dealt with a ton of 94-95 Stangs as its a smaller shop that goes by word of mouth only. Again, he pointed out for optimal airflow, there must be a 7* taper...my setup is more like 45* from 90mm to 65mm and he says that disrupts airflow.

I don't think there's a problem with my combo either of course, he just will only do work that in his mind is done right...and has his opinions. And he did point out that the elbow and tb were not matched up properly and I have to agree that a 70mm tb makes sense as it matches the intake/elbow.

Pokageek, I had 290whp when I left the shop that originally messed it up but this new shop made it feel twice as fast due to the bottom end power he found by adjusting the rockers/valves ect...prolly still makes 290. Besides that, there are SLIGHT idle issues still and occasional stalling, but no biggie. Those drivability issues, the crap tune done by the old shop, and the fact that it's running 12:1 a/f makes me think that a new tune is worth it.

thanks again all

Makes sense. I had occasional stalling with my tweecer set up bc the chip never seated right on the puter no matter what I did. I am glad u have worked out the low end issues too.
