Your 3rd gear ratio for the t-45 transmission is 1.33:1. The 3rd gear ratio for tr-3650 transmissions is 1.32:1.

1996-2001? use the t-45
2002+ use the tr-3650

Go to www.randysringandpinion.com and go to the "gear calculator" section and input your desired numbers.

Many 99+ GTs came with factory 3.55 rears.

Assuming you have t-45 transmission, 3.55 gears, and 25.8in. tire, 3000 rpm should be ~49mph.

Hope this helps...

No 99-04 GTs ever came with 3.55s stock, just Mach 1s and 03-04 Cobras. All GTs from 99-04 came with 3.27s.

I dunno 3k in 3rd, in town I shift at 2.5k and when racing or highway I shift at near red-line.
I know in 2nd at 5800 I'm at 75 and 5th at 1900 I'm at 75 and thats all I know

AND at 40 I'm in 4th here in town, on the highway at 75 I'm in 5th, at 60 I'm in 5th sometimes and 4th sometimes depends on up or down hill.
I think low 60's sounds about right for 3k in 3rd

I try to cruise around 2000-3000RPM. Usually when i'm not racing, i shift at 3000RPM.

I think 3000RPM in 3rd puts me around 60-65MPH give or take. I know for sure there is a highway near my house that is 55MPH, i usually leave it in 3rd and cruise at around 2800RPM.

Oh that's with stock 3.27's

im asking because my car seems to be a little funny. stock gears on the 02 gt(3.27) at 3000rpm in third im only going around 50 mph. this question came to mind because i thought it used to be around 60 mph also. what could contribute to the speed decrease? could an exhaust leak effect my car in this way?
