I had the MGW (orange handle) in my '89. Install was a PITA so I haven't put one in my '93 but it's a really nice piece.

MGW(blue handle) for my T5 was great. Install wasn't too bad. It was a great excuse for me to get some ratcheting closed ends so I didn't have to remove my console in my 90. Other tried and true shifters are the Pro 5.0 and Steeda Tri-Axe. You really can't go wrong with any of those... Just comes down to which one feels best to you.

The money setup is a pro 5.0 base with a tri-ax adjustable handle. I personally had the normal pro5.0 and thought it was great.

I have the Pro 5.0 but after driving it for a while I didn't have the leverage I needed to make clean shifts. I updated the lever with a very cool multi-adjustable MGW piece. GREAT combo, give it a shot!

I LOVE the setup, I just need a new transmission.

What makes the MGW better than the pro5.0? I've been running it for about 4 years and have missed maybe 2 shifts due to lack of concentration in that time.

Hype. Before the MGW the Pro 5.0 was king...now there's something new. It's got adjustable handles which is cool but i can't see what makes the actual shifter any better.

The problem is not missing shifts, because that's almost 100% driver as far as I'm concerned. Just from my own observation, the build quality of the MGW seems superior to other brands. They claim it has the strongest centering spring, which I don't know if this is true or how much it helps. What I love about it is the handle design. It's much stronger than the usual 2 bolt handles, which I have seen break. The handle will also NEVER come loose, as I see the 2 bolt design do quite often. Some people don't have either problem, and it might depend on how much you abuse it. My buddy's pro 5.0 handle comes loose constantly, even with lockwashers and red loctite. I also really like how you can adjust the handle to wherever is comfortable for you. I don't think they sell them anymore, but the different length handles were nice too. Now, with that said, it might not be worth it to buy an MGW over your Pro 5.0 or Steeda, but if you're in the market for a shifter, it's the same price, so why not.

I do like how their handles go on....i actually have a buddy of mine make all my handles though so strength isn't so much an issue. I'm in the market for one for my 3550 so maybe i'll try it and see what the big deal is.

I think their earlier handles were better. I'm talking the red and blue handles. I have a red handle in my car. Not so sure i would like the orange handle.
