Hi everyone,
I have a 1965 Ford Mustang running on original 289cu.in V8.. Initially I decided to re-build the original engine and purchased the parts mentioned in the below list.
However I changed my mind now and decided to swap the engine with shortblock.
I do need your suggestion.
Which shortblocks are compitable with my purchased list.
Which companies is really produced good shortblock, i mean is no problem. Somebody from forum suggest DSS Racing.

350+ hp is ok for me.

I am from Turkey, therefore i have no chance for wrong choose.

Regards

KaraKedi,
I don't know what company to suggest, but given the parts that you have already purchased/collected, I would definitely make sure that whoever you purchase from, it should be a short block that is speced the same as a 65 289. Later model engines have different crankshaft balance factors and some fasteners (bolts, etc) were upgraded or changed to different sizes in later years as well as some gaskets and coolant passages in the blocks.
Just My Opinions,
Gene

The best advice I can give you is go to your local machine shop, they can probably rebuild your shortblock and save you money in the process. Let them know what parts you have and what you want out of it. If they have been in business long enough, they should have some good suggestions for you. Plus you deal locally and if you do have a problem out of it, perhaps you will have more luck getting it fixed. Also they are usually volume dealers of all the performance parts and may can get them for the same price or less that you can get from say summit or jegs.
If you are dead set on purchasing a short block, then good luck to you, there are numerous engine builders out there that all say they have the best product. The only thing i can tell you here is maybe go with a company like Blue Print....they are sold nationwide through reputable dealers like summit, you know they aren't some fly by night company and they seem to offer a quality product for a good price. Best of luck whatever you decide to do, again, my advice is go with someone local that has a good reputation.

Here is a 347 from blueprint I found on Jegs (they also carry it at summit) you could bump up those heads to the 185's and maybe change your cam a little and have 60-75 more hp than with a 302 alone. I just caught that you are in Turkey, probably not as many Ford Friendly machine shops there huh.

Hi,
I am close to DSS Racing 331 base bullet shortblock ( https://www.dssracing.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BB302SHORTBLOCK )
I talked with Comp Can Tech, they suggest Custom Grind camshaft ( COMP Cams 35-000-9 - COMP Cams Custom Ground Camshaft Cores - Overview - SummitRacing.com )

Are there any comments?

Engine Might have to get a Dart block but don't want to and if I do, then 363 instead of 331. Thoughts on what I've already bought so far.......
