I am getting rid of the O/R X-pipe and am going to go with some with a high flow cat.

I see there are regular catted X and H pipes, but they seem rather long, would it be best to go with a shortie catted H with my Borla Aggressive cat back?

Difference between shortie and regular, H vs X? (all catted)

The reason to connect the two exhaust tubes is because of exhuast pulse. They exhaust doesn't fire at exactly the same time in opposing tubes, so when you connect them, it equalizes the pressure and maintains a constant when you are talking about backpressure in the exhaust. It also aids in exhaust scavanging. Now, the difference between an X-pipe and an H-pipe is the scavanging effect. The X-pipe is more efficient because of the non-restrictive design.

understandable, but why do they have shorties and the not...what does a shorty do, what kind of configuration would you use a shorty X or H in.

What I am asking is: is the stock H pipe a shorty?

shorty mid pipes can mean either they are for shorty headers, or they are shorter, to accommodate long tube headers. with short tube headers you'll want the longer mid pipe, which is similar in size to the stock mid pipe.

In general, shorty headers use stock length pipes and shorty pipes are for long tube headers - because the tubes & collectors extend further back from the engine, shorter midpipes are needed.

Alright, If I have long tube headers I will need a shorty mid pipe, short tube headers, just a regular midpipe?

I have stock headers, all I am doing is replacing my O/F X with something Catted,

I was sick of the raspiness so I have been reading that cats are the way to go, I would like one solid peice with cats, that way there is no welding.

Would you guys suggest a catted X or H? Where would you purchase it from?
