So I got a free car wash the other day. Normally I wash my car myself but figured why not used it. So i go threw and within about 5 seconds those things that swirl on the side of your car snapped my antenna. I watched it just easily bend and then snap right off. I bought it from american muscleit was the like 13 or 14 in billet one i believe or whatever. I just bought the thing like 2 weeks ago. What's the deal is there somewhere to get a better quality antenna?

well i dont know but i tried taking the little thing off the end (not the ball, but shaped different) because i was going to make my own because the shorty one broke in the wreck...started heating up the antenna below it and the end melted right off. its like, nothing but sauder.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR STANG THROUGH AN AUTOMATIC CAR WASH.!.! why cant i get that through people's heads???

+1 on not using the automatic carwash.

As for the shorty antenna. I just cut my stock one nearly in half, grinded the tip down to fit the ball and repainted it. Looks pretty good IMO.

Hey I got it free. Why not save myself like the 3 hours a week I spend on cleaning my car for a free wash. but yes, I wont go through em anymore

But i was saying it was crappy quality for another reason too, I was driving and there was a plastic bag floating around, It hit my antenna and bent it to liek a 45 degree angle and I was going like 35 mph...

+2 Here's a shot of the car with the shortie. I think I cut it down to 8". Looks better than half the aftermarket crap. IMHO

I put the antenna in a vice and pulled the ball off with a pair of pliers. Before I repainted it I sanded it back to a round shape. The ball will come off pretty easy.

The tires are 295/35/18 outback and 265/35 up front. I have seen pics of the wing molded in an it looks sweet. But I saw them after my car was painted.

I had the same exact thing happen to me. Bought the shorty billet and had it snap off in the car wash because I was too lazy. I bought the shorty black one this time and no more auto car wash's unless its just the spray kind. But they're only good for knocking off the dust.

i bought the black 8" one... quality is fine to me, nothing has fallen off it.

as for radio reception, i do think mine is a little worse because of how small it is.

My company's line of washes requires our employees to take the antenna off certain cars, stangs are one of them, www.googoocarwash.com if any of you are near one of our stores tell me and i'll give you a free pass to prove we're safer than others

I found the email for the 14" and it said:

PLEASE NOTE: Antennas must be unscrewed or retracted like any other
car antenna before going through any automatic car wash, otherwise it
will break.

Thanks and enjoy!!
