Well the summer is almost over and I have decided to redo my exhaust system. 6 years as a daily driver has definitely abused the system.

I am considering 3 choices.
1. 2. considering headmans 88400 (1 1/2) or 88650 (1 5/8).
3. I currently have clay extruded cast iron manifolds.

I think the new motor is some where around 285 hp.
I am going to do x-pipe and 2.25 dual through flows.

Oh and and I need compatibility with early engine mounts. Later model ones cause distributer, compressor clearance issues. (don;t ask I have no idea why other then its a true 64.5 mustang PITA)

What do you all think?

I have a Flowmaster 2.25" kit with custom bandrell bent h-pipe. The 2.50" setup will give you more options purchasing x-pipe kits as many companies do not go smaller then 2.50". My Doug's headers also came with 2.50" collectors, so that would have been a better transition had I gone with a larger pipe. I like my setup, but the 2.50" might have given me more options.

Well I think I might stay with cast iron manifolds. Seems there are clearance issues with shorties and short engine mounts.

Are there any good exhaust kits, preferable bolt-in that anyone has installed? Most shops in Riverside don't mandrel bend or want to connect to cast iron manifolds.

I am leaning towards Hipos. I called the guy who extruded them last time and he will do it again for a case of beer and some computer work.

I found a 2 1/4 kit at dallas Mustang for 580 with pipes and manifolds for 479. All I have to do is get some flowsmasters.

Oh GOD, please don't. Flowmasters SUCK for performance. Might as well call them Slow Masters. Get some Magnaflows, they sound WAY better IMO and they definately perform way better.

The Hi-Po manifolds and the 69/70 351w manifolds will perform about the same after a port job which means they will flow as good as almost any header.
