i have read in a lot of place that shotys dont do much on a N/A car i would really like to get them but they are around 300.00 and if they dont do much i dont know if its worth it, i have all the stuff in my sig but i still want some more power

just got my FRPP shorties installed last week. Shorties (specifically JBA or Ford Racing) were my only option due to emissions hassels, cops, being lowered ~2.5" in front and being easier to work with overall. On top of that, I couldnt pass up the deal i got on the shorties and install, so i had to take the opportunity.

I knew they wouldnt do much for the car, but it was nice to top of the "full bolt-on" 2 valve for the price i got everything for. Other than my hesitation problems (that i havent resolved yet :nonono:) due to my ignition system, the car feels great! When you're takin it through the rpms, the motor feels a lot more smooth. The top end feels it improved a lot as well.

On the negative....Obviously no where near as much power as long tubes, but the car feels a lot more perky with a more low end power that i was lacking.

If emissions and po-po arent a concern, go with longtubes... you'll be much happier with the power gain.
I will say, if you are not installing the shorties yourself, honestly, they are the WORST bang for buck.

honestly if you want more power at this point and not use spray you need to save for a long while. Shorties is a step in the wrong direction, money you'd spend that you should save. As of now you can go all the way to PI heads or ported PI heads or ported NPI heads. Or build your own supercharger kit or single turbo kit.
Anything else will be a waste of time and money unless you want appearance mods

i would love to do pi heads but i cant have i apart for a long time since it is my DD i think that ill start searching for some pi heads

I'd go used centri head unit + assembling a kit. PI heads take more labor and produce less power and limit any forced induction plans in the future. Plus with all the odds and ends of the project, a supercharger can be the same price with the supporting mods it takes.

Limiting the FI in the future is not true..you can run a thicker gasket to bring your compresion back down pretty close to what it was!!! Kinetic gaskets is the company that makes them!!!

Just bought ceramic BBK tuned shorty headers. Installing them next week with compcams.

May not be to much gain from them but the heads will be off so I decided to put them on as well. Even if they add an extra 5 hp, it's better than nothing. Plus, they'll look better than the stock manifolds at least.

might as well just have your NPI heads ported if you're going to go through the trouble to swap heads and get specific gaskets in order to maintain compression for only 15cfm

If you must go with shorties then get them, but you'll be disappointed in the bang for the buck department though. They are pretty much only worth it if your blown as you'll see better gains than with n/a.
