Shoudn't the car die or run badly when the mass air sensor is unplugged? I'm trying to set my timing and get my idle right and I noticed that when I unplugged my MAF the car ran the same as it did before it was unplugged.

ys it should but if your computer is in limp mode then it supplies its default signal so the sensor doesnt matter.

What would cause the computer to go into limp mode? Is it bad for the car? Can I get it out?

not sure run the Key on and key off tests to determine if you have a problem. You could just have a bad MAF too.

NO, the car will NOT die when u uplug the maf sensor. It should however run worse when unplugged for a while. If it didnt change at all, ur MAF may need cleaned out.

mine doesnt die either, just wont start unplugged.

No, the EEC-IV+ all have FMEM. When the MAF is unplugged, the EEC goes into limp home mode and also runs PIG RICH. Without the MAF, the car is using a lot of gas, get's LESS HP, is killing the cats at a VERY fast rate, and so on.
