I have 295/50/15's and its pretty much impossible to fit tailpipes on my car. My gas tank is too wide to even get a 2.5 pipe by it. I was thinking about taking my gas tank off and then cut the ends off about 2 inches closer on each side and weld a plate on each end. Im not really worried about not having a big tank I just want tailpipes. I could get smaller tires but mine so nice on my 15x10's and i've heard even 275/50's arent much easier with clearance. Any ideas? I think its totally possible and feasible. I checked out fuelsafe.com they dont sell stock sized fuel tanks.

thanks

Drew

mine doesnt have that plastic shield. hmm maybe i could just hammer the seam flat or something. Its crazy that nobody has ever run into this prob with big tires. I tried searching and nothing!

I had that problem with my drivers side pipe. I just took some pliers and pulled it over. It only needed a quarter of an inch or so. Problem fixed.

You might have better luck on a racing forum or Corral. The widest tire package I have seen on this site is 275 as you stated.

If you do take the tank off and hammer it in, make sure you have a fan blowing (ventilation) and use a blanket over the area you plan to strike (spark prevention)
