i got pissed at my ex back in HS and i drew donuts in her yard. i wouldnt recomend doing that but it did make me feel better. her dad did have a lot to say about it when we got back together a few weeks later

He wasn't in a life or death situation. His speeding had no control over if the grandmother died or not. It very well may have had a deadly outcome if a kid stepped out in front of him though.

If the kid can't hear the exhaust coming up or doesn't look both ways, it's just natural selection

Nice reasoning there... Fortunately the legal system would see it differently, but I urge you to PLEASE use that argument if you are ever happen to be the cause child being killed.

I almost got in a fist fight with some drunk at a gas station because I squealed my tires when I was pulling in. I got the, your gonna kill people, what if there were kids, etc BS. I just telling the guy to mind his own business and shut the hell up. If I could of gotten away without being on security cameras, I would of laid the guy out, he just would not shut up. Definitely not worth the time to appease complete strangers.

Haha natural selection I agree. Kids now a days are so stupid. I would look both ways to cross the street. Now they just jump in your way.

Oh don't bother. Next time just rev it and keep going. See how brave he is. Either way he was jaywalking and you couldn't stop in time.

Ok so you say you were doing 50mph down the street in a 25? or 30?

Well where i live, the street in front of my house must be a freeway. The speed limit is 25mph and EVERYONE does 50+.. Im not kidding.. i used to play baseball so i have a radar gun and i will sit in my yard and clock people doing 25-70.. and i live right next to a SCHOOL!!! An elementary school none the less.. and i have lived in this house for 11 years, and seen a cop on my street maybe 6 times..
I am soo surprized that cops dont just make a spike strip for some of these street racing people.. I just know that for some of us, being the bigger person NOT speeding like that and going to the track! Keep it safe guys.. You just never know..

Honestly, I don't see how your situation justifies your actions. Regardless of how important you think it was to get your girlfriend there, it was not important enough to endanger the life of the kids you may or may not have seen. How much sooner did you really get there? Would a couple of minutes really made a difference? Maybe I'd see it different if the person with you were actually in some danger.

To answer your question, she ended up having to go into surgery about 15 minutes after my girlfriend got there and they are deciding whether or not to take her off the respirator today, she hasn't been able to see her since but is on her way back to the hospital now. The way I look at it I probably saved her close to that amount of time from driving the posted speed limit. Im glad I did everything possible to get her there fast.

That is your opinion and ey I respect it because there's a few different ways to look at it. But honestly I was not endangering anyone's life. Actually the only reason I slowed down to 30 was because it is a long stretch of street and the only car on the street was their car, and I wanted to make sure there wasn'there wasnt a kid behind it or something that would run out. The guy just wanted to feel like he was doing a public service or something becuase he could hear my exhaust down the road and even to him the 50 mph or so probably seemed alot faster probably

it was a 25, as residential as it gets The road is like a half a mile long straightaway. it continues through like 3 different subdivisions.

Both indivduals were wrong.

It is too easy in a subdivision for a kid or a pet to run out in front of you so the speeding was wrong.

No one has any business trying to personally enforce traffic laws so the vigilante justice was wrong.

Only way an apology would be warranted is if it was a mutual one.

The most I do is give the speeders in front of my house dirty looks. I would never consider blocking their car with my body

What the hell are you people talking about kids running into the street for?
In the age of X-box360 and Wii, kids don't play outside anymore.

Well first, I assumed when you say a neighborhood, it is like the ones around here. The yards aren't very big, and most of the kids play basketball in the street, ride their bikes, everybody walks their dog in the street etc. There are more pedestrians than cars on a summer afternoon. To go 50 in any part of this neighborhood would be crazy but I've seen a few do it. There are times when you need to drive fast in an emergency. I'm still not convinced that this was one, but that's my opinion, but I would suggest in the future when you do need to do some emergency driving, you do a couple of things. Turn on your emergency flashers and if you are going through intersections or places where there are pedestrians, start blowing your horn. If it isn't urgent enough to take these precautions, then it probably isnt urgent enough to drive double the speed limit.

Ok well if I saw some car flying by honking the **** out of his horn with his flashers on, I would think he is more crazy than just flying by. And to clear the misconception most neighborhoods houses are close togehter with many trees and obstractions like mine. Didn't wanna go too much into detail but by my gf's neighborhood is with brand new with houses around 1/2 mil decently spaced apart, and the trees arent much taller than my car. From down the road you can easily see what is going on. To go 50 in my neighborhood anywhere I would probably never have done In the same situation.

You wasted more time speeding and being stopped, confronted, and having a bitching match, insted of driving regularly

Not many people care (majority) around you about someone's sick grandma, they are worried about their kids being safe around their house and neighborhood. recklessness leads to more injuries, think about it, if you were doing 50mph in a 25 zone and plowed into a kid, and told his/or her mom "hey I'm sorry, I wanted to get to the hospital so my girlfriend can see her grandma" She wouldn't give a ****.

If that was me, I'd woop your butt if you got out

I love the fact that everyone seems to think that neighborhoods are always closely packed houses that are 75 feet away from the curb and have cars parked along the street blocking the view.

There ARE neighborhoods where it is VERY easy to see whether or not a kid would be in your way LONG before you ever reached them. I think he was smart enough to realize his surroundings and know what obstacles could be/would be in his way and judge his "safest" speed accordingly.
