A buddy of mine has a vert 95 5-speed with a 2 straight pipes and $20 mufflers. Also, I told him to run a shorter belt and avoid the smog. OK, so my point is that he beat me in a race we had about 3 weeks ago. I had everything in my sig except the h-pipe, flowpath, and msd. Yesterday he called me out and I had nothing to say but my tranny is a bitch. Is he beating me normal or should I worry about my car? I mean, now I feel my car really strong, but I don't want to race again and lose, cause what would I say then?

He has a shift kit!

But, yes, the 5-speed was the difference. If you got a nice Tq converter, then you will shake things up a bit.
(oh yeah, and you GOTTA have gears with the AODE.. I like 3.73's but a lot of guys here will say 4.10's for your setup)

your vert is also a bit heavier, as said gears and a shift kit should give u the edge

I bought the 4.10s but haven't installed them yet. Damn, I didn't know that our trannys made that HUGE of a difference.

I know that after the 4.10s, he's owned, but I just thought it would have been closer than what it was.

Timing is stock. Fuel filter is about 5 months old and the air filter is a K&N and is cleaned regularly.

MAF was just cleaned last week. I'm not really comfortable advancing my timing since I'm getting several codes. What do you recommend my fuel pressure at, it currently at 39psi?
Check out my codes.

You need gears and a stall. The shift kit is pretty much useless without them. Get either some 3.90s or 4.10s and a nice stall and you shut be able to beat him.

Did you race from a dig? If so how are you launching? How much did you beat you by? And was he pulling on you the whole time or did he get you out of the hole?

Raced from a dig and I launched foot on brake at about 1300 rpm. He beat me out the hole. I mean, it was embarrassing, cause he was spinning and still gaining on me and didn't spin for shet. Oh, he took me out by about 4 or 5 car lengths, majority of the length was out of the hole.

Your launching off the brake like that and you still didnt spin? Damn. When mine was stock it would spin em pretty hard outta the hole if I launched like that.

I guess its time for some gears. Sounds like he's got you handled for the time being.
