What would be cheaper and more practical, Buying new OEM bumpers or getting my originals Re-chromed? The back bumper has some rust and both are pitted.
When i came across this issue i decided to replace them because i didn't have the funds to re chrome them. They don't fit as well as the originals though. I'm not sure of the actual costs but the painter said that new ones are 80$ and to re chrome them is about 200... not sure how acurate those are, my memory is kinda hazy on it
Up until awhile ago Jardin was basically only supplier. When I got mine the backs ones quality was pretty poor. I heard NPD uses a new supplier and quality is much better - might be worth a call to check out.
when you say new OEM do you mean NOS? if you mean NOS and not repro then it would probably be cheaper to have yours rechromed. repro are cheaper and if you can find a good set they'll be just fine but like has been said the quality on some of them is pretty bad.
I bought some re-pops about 10 years ago for my car, I was very disappointed with the thin material and the poor quality of the single plated chrome. I sent them back, and had my originals redone for abot $100 a piece more. Much better that way. IMO
If you want your car to look perfect then rechrome the bumpers that you have. If you just want it to look good buying a good set of aftermarkets would be the way to go.
