should I even mod it?

I took my 02 gt conv I picked up for $7900 with 79000 miles on it bone stock. I put a kenne bell intercooled kit on it a set of nitto out back and an k&n drop in air filter. It was making about 360 horse and over 400 ftlbs of torque to the wheels with 10lbs of boost. Total price of car $14800 plus 200 for nice control arms. A 12 second car loaded with option you car drive anywhere and appears bone stock and is quiet Priceless.

I don't quite get why people bad talk a vehicle they themselves drive. Yes, a cobra is faster, yes a z06 handles better, but ur gonna pay for that. You'll pay upwards of 20-25k for an early 00's z06 or a terminator in good shape. Versus 10-12k for a hardtop GT 01-04 with decent miles. Do the math. That's 10k you save or could use to upgrade. Add cheaper insurance (big deal to me). Hands down a 2v GT is def a good bang for the buck.

I would say 2v are worth modding there fun cars but if u want to make over 400rwhp reliable u need to build the bottom end cause there junk I make 575 rwhp on pump gas/15psi with a 4.6 SOHC motor

Just so he knows what he's getting into, how much have you spent to run mid 12's all day long?
Well I had her SuperCharged at a cost of $5500, A Paxton 2000, was putting down 411 hp, then promply blew the stock motor. I then bought a Cobra shortblock, still in the crate, added all forged internals, for $6000. Had her dynotuned, I now put down 437 rwhp. I also have a Magnapack catted X-pipe, Magnaflow Catback, about $900 for these, and also a 75mm Throttle body and a C&L intake. These are the major mods on my car..... say it cost me about $13,000. He won't need a new motor if he's careful, so without the motor it cost me about $6,800. Not cheap, but thankfully I can afford it, and it's SH**loads of fun. I also put on bigger rubber, Cobra Chrome mags with 275X40X17's on her. Lots of less expensive stuff too, A Saleen Hard Tonneau cover, A Lightbar, lots of Billit on the interior and motor, about $600 worth. I bought her new in 2003 for $29,500, it's a Vert, and put about $15,000 into her counting the new motor. I have about $45,000 total in her, so needless to say I will never sell her, I probably would get $15,000 for her on a good day. 9 years old, never in the rain, 70,000 miles on the car, 17,000 miles on the 2nd motor. She's my Baby!!!! oh, and 373's in the rear. I am constantly getting comments on her from complete strangers, she is one of a kind, and looks better than new, including the paint, Laser red. I also am constantly challenged, 90% of the time I ignore them, but once in awhile I have a little fun. I can take down Chargers, Challengers, Camaros, Mercedes, Audis, I have even beat an older Mustang 500 GT, maybe a 2009, and I took down a new 412hp Mustang, it was close, but I had him by about 7-8 car lengths by the time I topped out at 120 in 4th and got off it. He was pissed off when we slowed down to 70 and he passed me, giving me the finger. I pick and choose my fights, bro, lol!!! One thing, never have raced a Vette, for some reason they scare me! I am almost sure I can own the standard 400 hp unit, but just can't pull the trigger. What's my bag, I wonder? What do you think the reason is, and please be nice! Where else can you pick up a one off car that is a flat 12 second unit, for $40 - 45,000?

That is the other side of the double edged sword. You are never gonna get back what you put in, so as long as you can accept that than have fun. Any more, high performance doesn't sell. When I looked for my last Mustang I wanted a bone stock car. If I want a beat up car I want to be the one to beat it up. So you either have to keep it forever like cronin57 said, or plan on taking a major hit at resale time. I plan on keeping my car forever as well, so I don't mind putting the money out for my future plans. Black canvas top, KB 2.1L kit, cams, axles.

I would be at a lost myself at resale for sure. It is probally the most fun bad investment I ever made.

I've had my car for 13 years from off the showroom floor brand new. I haven't had a payment for 8 years. I've got $10k in it after market and with my Kenne Bell it puts down nice horse power. It's not a trailer queen. It's a daily driver. And I shock many people out there in newer muscle cars.
