Im not sure what too do im 22 and make pretty good money I currently own a 2000 GT and help out at a shop called Amazon Racing. They specialize in SVT performace mainly Lightnings and 03 Cobras. My question is should i get the Cobra which is alittle too expensive for me but possible too get or should i pay off the GT and go nuts on that. Im just facing the fact that this car could never compete with a lightning or cobra unless i where too throw in a 4v Superchaged motor with a Richard racing intake or something. Any adivice would be helpful.

I cant imagine working where you work with all those seet cars. I know how hard it is to resist the temptation. I had a 00 gt and it ate me up everyday that I didnt have a cobra so I finally gave in. well now the 03/04 are out and I want one of those but I have to do whats best financially cause it would suck to lose a car or ruin your credit just cause you want to have fun with a sweet car. so you have to weigh what is best for you now and choose the right one. I know it sucks but I have been there. You dont know many times I have been by the dealer or on the net looking at 03 cobras or mach I's. good luck.

i think u should pay off ur GT then saving some money and buy the twin turbo kits from www.inductionconcepts.com. If u have any question about the kit, go to the forum and u can ask as many as u want. Rad will answer them all
Anyway, goodluck with watever u choose.

oh ya and even though I love my cobra sometimes I wish I had kept the gt and spent the money I have spent on the cobra on it cause that thing would be a beast by now.

by the time 2 years rolls around there will be tons of things for the 2v or even better options that the current cobra motor and hopefully by then the cost of 4.6 parts will go down. just look at cams, when they first came out they cost over a thousand now they are a few hundred and hopefully someday they will cost as little as 5.0 cams.

Red4.6 im thinking the same thing you are. I have an 03 GT and i already put 6K into it, all to run high 13s. Im only 19 and the insurance would kill me. The only other reason im keeping the GT right now is because I already made 15 payments and on a trade in I can kiss them and the other 6K i put in goodbye.

If you can afford it go for it. If not just payoff your GT and mod it up nice. There's nothing like no monthly payment.

I say payoff your car first then worry about modding. Getting Personal Finances lined up always come first before getting into debt.

I'd go 03 Cobra, but only if you can handle it. I know everyone thinks they can, but driving one is a lot different than dreaming.

Oh yes, no matter where you are, the grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side of the hill. So you think. I'm the same way. So I'll work on my GT. I did buy a 2004 Tarus SES for the wife. We needed a family car.

I'd keep the GT and pay it off. Is getting REALLY in debt worth a 4v motor? It wouldnt be to me. I don't race my cars tho, I cruise around and enjoy them, sure. I love my cars but I don't drag them.

Again I'd keep the GT and put money into as you see fit.. a bit here and there.

I know lots of people that can afford a 03 cobra including myself why don't we have them? Cause finances come first you need to plan for your future if you make good money save as much of it as you can put the rest into the GT. Get a house equity is key. I dug myself in debt with cars just cause I needed to have that next new toy and I paid dearly for it.

Right now I'm saving to get into a house after the house then I'll be putting a blower on my car I've got the money right now for that KB blower and everyday I have to yell at myself for even thinking of spending it on anything but my house.

I say keep the GT for now save your extra money the earlier you get yourself setup the better off you will be later on GL!

Just some food for thought:

Used 03 Cobra 28-31K
Value of Used 00 GT 60Miles in good condition (Edmunds Private Party)=11K
Remaining to be paid off= 3K

$30000(plus sales tax)-(11000-3000)=22000+1800 in sales tax=
$23800 Car Payment

$23800 @ 7% intrest for 36 months is nearly $750 a month

Even at 60 months 7% you'll be nearly 500 a month for 5 years!

I'm in the same situation with my 02 GT I could pay it off and start saving for the Cobra or I could pay down my loan and use the rest to get blown....Just something about the Cobra vert is calling to me....

Just something to think about is driving a car worth a thousand a month (with insurance)?
