Just seeing if you guys thought it was worth it. I purchased the car at 29,880 miles and according to the sticker on the windwo it's not due for an oil change until 32,880.

However, I'm about to take the stang on it's first decently long trip during Memorial day and I want to go ahead and get it serviced anyway just to humor myself.

the 30k serivce seems to check and replace a lot of things, but it costs $344.

Thanks.

i paid it.. worth it IMO. i get regular maintenance done at the dealer ship every month. my car now has 85,000 miles, still runs strong and smooth.

i think at 30k you do the fuel filter, air filter, coolent drain and fill and an LOF /w rotation. i dont think you need a tranny service (auto) drain and fill (standard) tell 50k. anyway thats how my shop does it. i think you could do the fuel filter and air filter yourself and have the coolent done with your next oil change.

if its the standard ford type 30k service its LOF, tranny flush, coolant flush, power steering flush, air, and fuel filter with rotation, balance and brank inspection and a fuel system cleaner. the 4r70w NEEDS to be flushed at least every 30k miles, i do mine more often, but i have access to a tranny flusher. they probably wont, but its a good idea to get the trans filter changed too. the price they quoted isnt that bad at all actually. you might want to consider doing the spark plugs too, i dont trust plugs with over 30k miles even platnium ones.

One advantage to getting the work done at a Ford dealer is that they will have records of the scheduled maintenance work. Ford will sometimes cover major repairs even if you're past your warranty but they see you've had all your scheduled service done at a Ford dealer. This has happened to a friend of mine and his F-150, and a service rep has told me this personally.

No guarantees, but it's a safe bet. Ask your dealer about it.

By the time you have some major go wrong you'll end up wasting thousands in maintenance costs... I think thats a lame way to think about it. If youw ant to prove you did something keep your receipts...thats all you need to prove you did all the required maintenance.

$$$$ tune up???

The last time my stang saw Ford was when it left the showroom in 1999....I have changed everything even the brake fluid...the tranny...plugs...gas filters...I have passed 100,000 and not even a burp....I even did the whole cooling system with the good stuff its pink & for aluminium & even mixed it with distilled water......my 1990 5.0 never went back for any visits....165,000 and she still purrs, "I ONLY USE REGULAR OIL", every 1500-2000 miles ...... all of the stuff is easy if you take your time, look at the web-sites......go back to Ford!!!!!! " only to take a look at the 2005's or buy a dealer part....... Johnny

isn't it odd that most newer vehicles claim "no tuneup for 100k miles" but then they tell you about this 30k mile service? My dealer pushes that on me every time, I always say no

I could use a fluids flush, but the other crap they do is like 4 wheel alignment and some other nonsense with computer diagnostics. Hardly worth the 350ish they want, if you ask me :not:

I would have to agree with the masses on this one. I've got an 02 GT now but my 1990 LX rarely saw the "Stealership" once it was mine. Most recommended services were pretty simple to do yourself. I used Mobil 1 oil and changed it every 10,000 miles. Well it survived to 197,000 miles until a kid ran a red light and cut its life short. I never had any engine problems and it still ran strong. So far I have punked out and changed the oil in the 02 every 3000 miles.
