Okay, quick question...I just ordered my 9psi Kenne Bell kit (with all the options). My question is, should I have them go ahead and permanentaly turn off the traction control with the chip? I know that it is not good to have the traction control (cuts timing, fuel, etc) with boost and I am afraid one time I might forget to turn it off, go into boost and then boom. So should I have them turn it off?

I would.

I wish mine was automatically turned off. It's easy to say "Just turn it off when you start it." but you WILL forget someday.

I would ask if they could set it up where it would come on when you hit the button instead of going off then. That way you could turn on t/c in the rain or when you really needed it.

Yeah, I wish they could set it to be in the "off" position when you turn the car on...this way you would have the option to turn it on. But they only turn it off permanently.

OH! Well, screw that then. I still want mine for winter time when i'm taking it easy in the snow.

There is a cheap little gadget you can get that you can get that remembers the last setting on the traction conrtol and puts it that way when the car is started. So, if TC was off when the car was last running, it turns it off again automatically. Or something like that... If you search you should be able to find somebody talking about it on here. I've been wanting to get one.

If anybody knows where to get this, can you post a link? tia

In one of the other threads posted today we talked about TC, one guy said that they make and inverter kit that would make it off when start up and have to push the button when wanting it on. I will look for it

Found it, it is named something to the sort of "new to 2000gt genre traction control", in fact when I looked it was right below this thread

I just read about that also. There is no link for it in that thread. Not as of now anyway. Also there is a lot of talk about "Pulling a fuse" but nobody seems to be able to post exactly which fuse you pull.

In Mustangs with TC...the button/switch that turns it on/off... is the switch kind-of a toggle switch that when pressed, it pops back up?? Does that make sense? Like when you push the switch/button does it stay down or does it just click and pop back up? Becuase you may be able to do the old LT1 F-Body trick to make that switch a permenent on-off switch. If anyone knows what I'm talking about here help me out. In the Traction Control switches that GM used you can take the button off of the switch, and inside there is a little 'L' -shaped piece of metal that you flip over and put the button back on the switch. Then when you start the car TCS is always off, until you push the button to turn it on, but when you push the button it stays down, until you toggle it back to turn it off.... Does that make any sense at all?? I did this to two cars but I didn't understand it until I actually took the switch apart and did it. It takes like 15 minutes, but I don't even know if the switches are the same. It might be worth many people's time to find this out....

Well 03-04 cobras have S/Cs, and they dont have any problem. They come from SVT with TC...I would think if it was dangerous, SVT would have taken out the TC on cobras.Just my .02.

I don't have it on mine...
I don't miss it on mine...
and I really would never want it on mine either.
I want to drive my car, I dont want a computer to do it for me.

How about setting it up to turn off with a WOT switch, like used on most nitrous set-ups? It's not like you're worried about traction control when you've got your foot planted in the oil pan anyway!

No, it stays in the same position when pressed. It's more like how a key works on a keyboard rather than a toggle type switch.

Well, that is true. But I would assume that the computer in that car knows how to control it, or it works slightly differently. The tune on many GT's with S/C's, mine included, do not know how to react when the fuel cuts out when the TC kicks in. I don't have the technical knowledge to eplain it properly. Other than offering up the info that the GT and Cobra's computers, or some mechanical part, allows the Cobra's TC to work safely.

I don't have to be anywhere near WOT for my TC to kick in. Besides, i'm not sure that's possible with any existing aftermarket parts out there.

I don't know, that traction control button has been pretty handy in the past. Like for example:
The other day i was a little steamed after work, so i was driving a little more aggresivley than i should have been.. In the rain no less. While taking a turn onto a side street i gassed it a little and my rear end started to slip out, causing me to almost fishtail into the car in the other lane. But about 1/2 second later the trusty "green wheel" light came on, and did whatever it does to stop the acceloration and allowed me to regain control.

I mean, im no electrician, but whats the problem? Cant you just replace it with a toggle switch from radio shack?

The stock 03-04 cobras don't have as much traction problems as KB GTs.... The engine is heavier, boost comes slower and more progressively, and they make 50 or so less rwhp... The KB GT kicks in so quick it's out of control...

I can't imagine what a KB 03 cobra would be with 100 or 200rwhp more

It's not that it can't be useful in certian circumstances, it's that under Boost, blown GT's can be damaged when the TC kickes in.
