Should i keep my 95 GT???

I bought my 95 GT about 8 months ago for 3,500$ with 130,000 miles on it. It was a great deal because the body was in perfect condition and even the paint job was amazing because it had never been drivin in the winter and just takin good care of i guess...But i sorta have a little problem. Ive been wanting to add so many things to my car like...new 18" chrome saleen wheels, new magnapack catback exhaust system, smoked headlights, tinted windows, new gears...etc. But I just now started to realize that my car now has 138,000 miles on it. Would it even be worth it to do any of this to my mustang? Maybe even just the exhaust?...or should i sell it over the summer and look for a GT or preferably a Cobra with much lower miles??? I dont know what to do!!! I want a mustang i can keep for a while and gradually add too. I deffinitly at least wanna put that exhaust setup on it because sound is the most important to me! I NEED ADVICE!!! HELP PLEASE...any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks

Really it all boils down to what you want and how much you're willing to put up with. A body in great shape is harder and harder to come by as time goes on for our cars. I picked up my car with 47k on it, but the body had dents all over it and the paint wasn't in that great of shape. Now, it's likely I'll have less maintenance issues along the way, but that's something you have to weigh for yourself.

Our cars aren't that expensive to maintain in the stock to early modding stages. The 5.0 has a vast aftermarket available for it as well.

Look at it this way, even when stuff does break, it gives you an excuse to buy better aftermarket/performance parts

From the sounds of it, if you buy a new car, you'll still mod it correct? Why not keep the 95 and mod it like you want to, but buy a cheap daily driver. This way, you still get to play without putting a ton of miles on it.

The cars paid for, body in nice shape, paints good, colors right.... I say stick with it as its your free and clear. 130k is nothing really...if your plan is to hang on to it then thats not an issue....long as its not rusted you can always rebuild it, thats the way I see it. add a new motor and rebuild the suspension and you have a new ride...
Buy something newer and you have to pay the higher price for it and your gonna mod that too.. It never ends...its a sickness....

I concur with what's been said above. The ultimate decision is yours, but personally, I'd keep it. It's not very often you find a 14-15 year old car that the body is in perfect condition. You'll probably touch just about every mechanical area that you'd have issues with, as the modifications go forward.

138K, that thing is just breaking in! Take a loot at Adam95GT's thread, over 200K miles on his old motor. These things are beasts! I've seen people do top end kits on high milers before with great results.

Engine still had crosshatching.... and was running when removed... LOL

221k on it... i should of left that thing in.... I mean... when you do work on it... just do things you can always cary over... build a engine on the side...

maybe shave your bay.... tuck some wires.... be without your stang for 2 years LOL

I have had my car for about 3 or 4 years... bought it with 199k on it.... Pics from the owner when listed for sale... i paid $3900

Keep it, one of these days you are going to want to rebuild it anyways. By the sounds of it, the body and interior were taken care of so chances are the motor was too. You can probably get another 50,000 miles on it or more as long as you take care of it. I thought about selling mine years ago, glad I kept it.

NO brainer....keep it. Last of the 5.0s--that's priceless. Motor will hold out a LONG time. Mechanicals, suspension, all easy fixes when you start having problems--fun, not too expensive, within reason for the average DIY'er.

Bodywork, paint, is NOT fun, inexpensive, or feasible without a LOT of extra tools and equipment, and a really nice garage...

In other words, you've got a great foundation. Drive it, do some basic mods, in 60-70k, when the engine goes, you can build a beast for relatively low $$ (compared to mod motors).

Plus, you've got YELLOW!!! What's the odds of finding another good deal, exactly what you want, on a YELLOW Stang? And everyone notices YELLOW Stangs! (Cuz they're the coolest)

when you say you'd look for a new gt or cobra. what do you mean? another 94-95 or a mod motor? being as your on 94-95 forum, you'll get everybody telling you to keep it. it sometimes sucks to mod a car just to keep up with a new version but thats the price you pay. with that being said, i still say keep it. it will be cheaper in the long run to mod and maintain.

Keep it! I've got over 145,000 still runnin strong! Even with my 3.73s, e cam, and my lead foot its still great.

Yeah like others have said you will get well over 200k on these 5.0's and she'll still be running strong.

lol i hope your joking. No offense, but, coming from someone who has a 94 and a 99, i can tell you the modular motors are superior to the 5.0's. Don't get me wrong, i love the old pushrod 5.0's, but you can't beat having 428hp at only 10psi and a handful of bolt-ons...

I disagree. You can be like every other modular motor owner and throw a supercharger on it and make 428rwhp and have it whine when it loses. Or you can have a 302 that sounds like this and make 450rwhp all motor.

Them mod motors are just too little to produce ANY amount of low end tq :Word:

Only way Ford could make anything happen with em was to ...........

Throw a blower on top of em

Honestly ... Not really fair to compare em

They are different and produce very different power curves

Btw when my 302 had 131k miles on it I didn't make 428rwhp at 10psi............I made 480rwhp at 8psi.
