Ive been wanted a mystic cobra for a while now. Im wondering if i should have my cobra painted the mystichrome 04 color or just leave it alone.

was also thinking i could either just buy a 96 mystic cobra and have 2 of them, or trade in my 99 for an 04 mystic cobra, but then i would probably have payments again.

what do you think?

Take is from me.. I paint a lot of cars, and I love Mustangs.

Your car is black, so changing it from black to mystic is an easy job. Black is the only true pigment in mystic paint. If you do choose to do it the cheap and quick way, which means painting only the outside of the car and not cutting any parts in such as door jams, trunk, floor, under the hood etc...it will not look bad at all. When you open doors, trunk, hood, it will go unnoticed. If you choose to cut in the parts with the mystic paint, it will get time consuming and more expensive, because you will need more paint and clear. I would say go for it, if that is what you really want. If the paint chips, it will show black, which is not too bad. (Better than yellow, or red, or blue). If the paint does chip, you touch it up with black. I am changing the color of my 91 notch from maroon to black. Painting the mystic over black will be easy, because it will cover very good. If you can afford it, do it!!!

If you really want a Mystic, go buy (or trade for) a '96. IMHO, 8 or of 10 times someone wants to change colors on a car, it looks like crap.

You must be experienced with paint to make a color change look good. I agree with your statement, but it can be made nice. IF you cannot buy the right supplies and do it yourself, have a reputable collision shop do it. See I paint myself, I have the right gun, and paint/thinner/clear/hardener. I have been doing it for years.

You might see if you can get the mysticchrome paint first. I have heard getting it can be tough.

I have the 04 mystic cobra and it is absolutely beautiful. I think i will disagree with SVT32. I think it will be very noticable if you don't paint the door jams, under the hood? come on how many people want to see under the hood? everyone wants to see under the hood that is the best thing especially if you have modifications. they will notice if under the hood is not painted. If you are going to do it... Do it right!!! I like the black too. Especially when the back lights have been changed to the white/clear. It looks sexy!!!

I'd get the 04 Mystichrome, at least that's what I did. If you enjoy your car now get the 96 Mystic and keep it perfect and play in the 99. I'm sure if you get the right painter and spend the money they can make the 99 look great but for the money how close would you be to paying for a 96 Mystic, half way maybe? I don't know.

I don't like the clear tail lights, too euro or rice for me.

Here is the Mystichrome I got about 2 months ago from Bauer Ford in Indiana. It is a nice car and I like it more every time I see it. You won't go wrong if you want to spend the extra money and get one.
