I bought the car with the explorer intake. I have access to a good deal on a polished Cobra intake. Is it worth the swap? Has anyone made the swap and their experience with it?

If the Cobra is one of the newer Chinese-made ones (does it say Ford Racing near the throttle body?) stay away.

hmmm if its a original cobra for a good price maybe and only maybe is it worth the money and time.........now if it were a original gt40 tubular...go for it! not worth the money to me but go for it....Gt40/Cobra/Explorer all flow within a couple of cfm of each other especially with stock heads, but you have after market heads and i dont really another intake would be worth the labor and money,

ps.with your post count and mods in your sig you are no rookie? did you buy the car like that. i know if you pieced your combo together or payed for it all you would know about the intake debut...something aint right here? im just sayin, not try ing to be rude...

No worries bro, I am actually a modular guy (a whole different animal). I just bought this Fox as my first 5.0 so I am familiarizing myself with it. I respect most people's opinions on here more than other places. I purchased it exactly what as my mod list states.

oh ic i wasnt hating, its cool man, im happy you are repping 5.0's now. i just know that your mods are what most of us aim for, that being said the gt40 vs cobra intake dispute is what you think about when you are doing your basic bolt ons. which your car is way past....good luck with the car and welcome to the easier to work on mustang world

What is the big difference between the Chinese made and original Cobra intakes? Is there an issue with both the upper and lower?

Yeah, there made in China now. Design flaws cause it to suck up oil through the PCV. FRPP will supply a larger oil baffle to combat this. I would still say to stay away.

The FRPP's are made in China? It is one of the original ones. It does say Ford Racing by the throttle body.

If it says Ford Racing, it is Chinese-made. As previously stated, they have a severe oil consumption problem that I know about from painful personal experience. If you are just swapping on the upper, there wouldn't be an issue with that, but you'd still have a Chinese POS on your American muscle car.

Oh, Is this problem only on the aftermarket Cobra? I am curious because I have a aftermarket off road GT-40 lower intake with an original upper. What is the deal with the baffle is it just to small? The baffle on the lower I have extends from the back to half way up the manifold. Is oil consumption the only issue?

Well I am planning on throwing a Vortec on my ride in a few months and after doing some more research, I realized that I need a better flowing intake anyway. any suggestions? The BBK seems to have a pretty decent flow rate.
