should i sell my 92 limited edition vert?

i somewhat would like a decent truck to drive instead of my 95 grand prix.

so my thoughts were to sell my dd and my vert and but a decent truck for a dd and then next year but another stang.

what stangs i was looking at was possible a mach 1, terminator, or a coyote 5.0 when prices come down in a few years. my wife gave me her input and told me to get a newer stang next year.

foxes are so sexy and nothing sounds better than a cammed pushrod 5.0.
but ive been reading for a long time about when people sell there foxes and get a newer stang and still wish they had there fox. but ive also read how people like the newer stang better then there foxes. i made a mistake before when i got rid of my white fox, i still think about it today. but now i have 2 kids so the vert would be nice, but a newer faster stang i think would be sweet also.

give me your input

Well just going by the pic in your avatar your fox looks really nice, its a feature car so that is a + also. given the fact that you already miss one fox you sold chances are will feel the same way. Finding a middle of the road or lesser fox is pretty easy for the most part but finding a really decent to mint fox is harder and getting pricey let alone a feature car. So I would figure that into it if you get the itch again for another fox. A termi is nice but a decent example isn't cheap either since they have held thier value. The new 5.0. is still pricey so IMHO the only "newer" stang I would consider worthy me parting ways with my fox would be a really nice termi, but again you are going to pay. Even then I would kick myself for getting rid of the fox probally like you would, so my vote keep it.

I did exactly what you're thinking of doing-sold my DD and sold my mint Mustang, took the money and bought a brand new truck out right. Man have I regretted it every single day I walk into my garage. I don't even have the truck anymore. I'm an idiot. Learn from my mistake.

I'll never sell my fox again. I learned my lesson. But do what's best for you and the family. If it's just a preference thing then don't sell. Just my opinion.

I've said this many times before... don't sell it. Everyday that goes by your car becomes less and less common. If it's already paid for then there's even less of a reason to sell as you probably can't get out of it what you put into it. Also, making car payments each month sucks. Both my Mustang and the DD are paid for and if I were to buy a new car my payments would be at least $250/month.

Maybe instead of trading up, you could keep both cars and put the money you would have used on car payments into a savings account. Give it a few years and you can buy a new/used car straight cash homie! In the long run you'd probably be much happier about it.

Keep it! It's (probably) paid off so it's not like it's costing you much. I did the same thing with my old '87 GT T-top back in 2003. Sold it for a new Ranger. Worst decision ever. Keep on driving the Hoopty DD and save up. Car payments SUCK, I've got a a year and half left on my Tacoma. I can't wait for no more truck payment.

well, if you can get good money for your vert id say sell it and buy a 03 cobra coupe.

my opinion is biased cause i dont like verts, esp rattle trap flexi-frame fox versions

both my dd and my stang are paid off. i know that if i bought a terminator or mach 1 or coyote, there is going to be a payment involved for sure. how much.....dont know. if i had to guess i would say high 300's with money down. plus living in michigan, that no fault insurance is pretty pricey, and since it would say "cobra" on it, i know my chocolate starfish will be pretty sore. same aspect with the coyote 5.0.

but how sweet would it be to look out in the garage and see 400hp, big brakes, and a 6 spd to start with?

i havent had my vert that long, i think since like august of this year. finally just got fresh paint last month, so im thinking maybe i should take it to a few car shows next year and see what kind of attention i can draw.

i do have mixed feelings cause a part of me is saying sell it and get something newer (the wife saying car payment ok) and the other part is saying keeping it and do some tasteful mods to it

S&B- not yo burst your bubble, but my car is worth more than $3500. no hard feelings

Even though verts aren't my cup of tea I would say keep it, the fact that these cars do not bring that much money is just not worth it for another vehicle that you'll likely not keep long term like you would the fox. Car payments suck badly, like you I've considered selling just my daily driver to get a truck but the car is paid off and no car payment is king.

I have no car payments. Its great.

*edit. I do have 2 teenagers though and that cost me a lot more than a car payment. LOL

I bought my first car at 18 by myself and sold it 9 years later, I still regret that decision sometimes. My 93 LX was the first new car bought and paid for by me and I have resisted the urge to sell it for 18 years although I have been tempted at times. Every once in a while it gets a compliment which makes me happy. I recently paid off my daily driver and am happy to be done with car payments. I just hope it treats me as well as my fox has.

I made a statement a long time ago that I would not buy a new Mustang until it had a 5.0 under the hood and a 6 speed in the tunnel on a GT. Now that time has come, but I would have to sell my fox and daily to do it. On the down side the new Mustangs look huge to me next to a fox which I don't like.

still mixed about letting her go. ive been thinking about getting a 99-04 gt and putting a turbo on it or spend a little more and get a mach 1 and gear it to the moon. but ive also been thinking that i can put a turbo an my vert with 5 lug and big brakes and have the best of all worlds
