I am wondering what to do with my '87 Notch, I-4, 5 spd. I am clueless what to do. I was thinking about doing a V-8 swap but i dont know how that works, if i need a new tranny and stuff, so then i was thinking about supercharging it, does anyone know anything about it? If so please give me some advice!! <3Thanks.

I dont think that the I4 has enough grunt to make any significant boost with a supercharger. do a 2.3turbo swap. it is a direct replacement and puts out about 120 more ponies than a regular four banger.

So which do you want to do? A V8 or a blown 2.3? I don't even even know of anyone that makes a 2.3 Ford-specific blower.

A (roots) blower is a good choice for a street car because they increase the low end torque, but a turbo 2.3 is a much more common choice. It's soft until about 3000rpm, but since when does anybody lug a 4 cylinder? If you want to know about 5.0 swaps, go to the 5.0 forum. They deal with it 100x more than here.

+1 what they said. Search these forums and on TurboFord.org for more information concerning the swap.

I believe that someone USED to make a supercharger for the 2.3 but it's out of production now and has been for quite some time.

You are right....Spearco had one in the 80's,I looked at buying
one when I was fixing up a '78 Pinto.I even did a search for them some
time ago and couldn't find any info on them.A friend of mine had a catalog
that showed one mounted in a pinto..it was a pretty neat setup.
