ok...my car has 12000 miles on it and it has chewed up 4 belts already. I have already taken the car back to ford to fix the problem after it went through 2 of them, the new one they put on separated down the middle making it a 4 rib belt after about 200-300 miles of driving and then last night it broke into about 100 strands but luckily i had a extra belt i picked up from autozone in the trunk. I put that one on and it shredded that one too 10 minutes later but luckily i was only a mile away from my house so i drove it home w/ no power steering or brakes and even though there was no belt to drive the water pump, it didnt overheat.... anyone have any ideas on this situation?

This is not the blower belt but the accessory belt I take it. I would think you have a pulley misaligned terribly. Look at that first.

once I put the ford eaton blower on mine, It slowly chewed throgh a belt as you could see the black rubber all over my alternator. since I changed it, it has been fine for a few months now. Like the above said, one of the pulleys must be off or maybe you need a different size belt. Either way, your car is still under warranty so MAKE ford fix it!!

In these cars, the blower runs off of the accessory belt. I suggest looking closely yourself to try to find what is causing the problem. Are you sure the belts are all on right? You should be using the Dayco belt provided by saleen or one of equal length. Make sure the length is equal to stock. You should be able to see where it is rubbing. It could be some bracket or something which is in contact with the belt. A pulley could be misalligned. Either way, I would just look closely at everything for strange wear marks. etc. Is it the inside (toward the engine), outside(away from the engine) or both sides of the belt that are getting shredded? That should give you an idea.

My car was going thru belts too, although not that fast.. DAMN.. ten minutes. I just had to live with an annoying squeak.
For my car, the alternator was tilted just slighty back at the top, couldn't see it by looking at it. The shop put in a couple of spacers to bring the top forward and its been fine since.

Count the grooves on the pulleys. I once saw a car that had a 6 groove pulley on the alternator, all the rest were 5. Did exactly what you said chews up the belts. It's hard to notice 1 extra groove
