Hey guys. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion of side exhaust of the 95 5.0's was. I got my car in October and am considering going with the side pipes instead of the usual rear exit catback. Does anyone have any experiences with this? My local muffler shop should be able to do the bends in the pipes and I'm most likely going to run Magnaflow mufflers. My dad has them on his 69 Stang and I love the sound of them. My major question is where can I find the sideskirts for these pipes for a reasonable price?

Thanks,
Chris

I had them on my old car and loved them. I think it actually takes a couple of hp. away from what I've heard with most kits, but I think you'll be very happy with it regardless. Search steeda.com to see if you can find side skirts I guess. Good luck.

Yeah those pics just sealed the deal. I'm definately gonna do it. A couple horsepower does sound like too bad of a sacrifice for all the cool points those will give me! haha

Yeah I love the looks of the svo side exhaust kit, but I was always wondering if you could switch out the mufflers. I would preferably like to put some bassani quiet thunder mufflers in...

Bassani sells a side exit set up for our cars. Within the next month or so, I plan to sell my Bassani qt catback (rear exit) and swap over to the side exit (for rear suspension clearance).

The svo side exhaust is nice, but it ends up being pretty expensive. Also, I do think it looks alright, but one complaint I have is that it hangs low and doesn't flow with the rear bumper, so it looks kind of wierd. It depends on what color car it is on too. I think it looks best on blck for some reason.

Also, bassani does have a kit. It contains tips, but there are no side skirts, therefore it gives your car a cobra r look. The spintech kit sounds good, but it scrapes like crazy with more than one person in the car. I know this because my friends has it on his 96 cobra. He bought the car with it on there and probably would never have bought it otherwise.

I personally love the look of some nice tailpipes.

Yeah I'm starting to have second thoughts about this. The prices are just looking like more than I want to spend right now. It would be easier if I lived in the states, but once i start adding on shipping to Canada and brokerage the prices are getting too high. I think I'm going to stick with just a regular rear exit catback. I can get a Magnaflow Catback (#15638) here for $565 Cdn. Does this sound like a good deal to you guys?

I do not like the side exit. My brother had a lowered 01 GT and he always hit the tips on things and was consistently knocking them loose, scraping them ect. But i think they look real cool w/ the SVO side skirts.

I have the borla side exhaust, although its not as loud as I want, its pretty bada**. The side skirts won't be super cheap, but look around. I know the ones with the SVO embossed letters in them prob cost more, those are the ones I have. Check out my cardomain site (95Snake103 on there), the link is in my profile.

Your friend needs to learn to wax often, mine aren't discolored cuz I wax around the area which removes any soot from the skirts. As with most custom things, they sometimes require a little upkeep to keep looking nice.
