Side Vents...How to remove them.

Are the side vents on our cars removable? I would like to paint mine black to match my black S281 wing once i get it.

I know you can take them off. Im just not sure how, I was looking in the fender well and there are a few screw on a vent in there, take that off and see whats behind there.

Didn't someone on here do a wicked twin turbo install with the turbos mounted in the back, and drawing from these openings? I think whoever that is may have confronted removing those things.

yea that was the greengt guy, forgot his SN but i havent seen him post here in a while.

im gonna check for the screws in the wheelwell like said above.

yea that was greengt? with his rear mount turbo kit, cool idea. I think you do take them off from within the fenders.

If you look at the fender they are pop riveted on, I have to take mine off since someone hit me there and im getting my car painted. I believe it is 3 pop rivets and you have to drill them out, so you have to take off your tire in order to do that.

damn, in that case how do you get them back on?

might just mask the surrounding area off.

I have not come to that stage on putting them back on so I don't know yet, I am getting the vent in sometime this week from a guy and I'll let you know what I do when I put the new vent in. I'm thinking of just putting pop rivets back in, but I think you need a certain tool to do that, im not really sure

Ok after you take the pop rivets off you need to take off 3 nuts that are holding the vents studs into place to. I havent done it yet but I got my new piece in and I was also examing a mustang at the junk yard today.

if u guys are talking about the rear side vent u have to take the rear interior panels off to access the 3 nuts holding them on.

yeah, there is a vent inside the wheel well that is held on by 3 pop rivets, when you take them off you then need to take that black plastic piece off, then that allows you to reach the 3 nuts that the vent is actually held on by.

well i already have easy access from the inside of my car since i dont have a rear seat, ill do it that way.

Ok the thing that you need to do is take out the back seat first if you have one, the next thing you have to do is take out the interior on that side. You dont have to take out the thing in the wheel well, i just did it today and it was annoying to do with a convertible but i got it done

man that sucks. I planned on getting a different style of scoops but I guess I can scratch that. I do plan on getting a rear seat delete though. I guess that would be a good time to do it.
