Hey guys. I just got my 67 coupe back from the paint shop and I'm trying to get some miles on the rebuilt engine before the snow flies:canada: The instrument panel is the only thing I've put back into the interior (except for front seat, of course!). I noticed my signal switch doesn't reset after turning. It's been 4 years between drives, but I was sure it did that before I started the resto. Does anybody have any advice on how to replace this switch

remove steering wheel then once you get behind there you see the switch itself. unscrew the turn sig lever then the switch from the steering column.

make sure your new switch has the same color and number of wires as the one you have in you mustang before removing anything!!!

follow the wires down to disconnect the turn signal wires at the wire loom (male /female connector) that is under the dash. remove the wires from the connector end that connects to the turn signal switch and pull wires trough the steering column by lifting out the turn signal switch.

then reinstall.

also make sure to not remove the bushing that holds the steering shaft from moving around that is below the turn signal switch. I say not to remove it because you might loose it...:D

sorry, I don't have any pictures that I can give you to help.

Take the steering wheel off first, I would suggest buying or renting a steering wheel puller if you have the original wheel - they crack, otherwise i have good luck rocking my wheel and wiggling but it's solid steel and wood...

You can get just the turn signal cam if that is all that's broken, when you get the wheel off you should be able to see if one of the ears is broken, the cam comes off with 2 screws from memory. The cam is like $20 and easy, the entire switch is $70-80 and you have to pull wires/ splice, etc. as mentioned above so hopefully it's not the entire switch that's bad, I'd investigate before you order...
The cam looks like this, many suppliers carry it, Dallas Mustang for one, (first try at pic posting...)

I used that replacement before but there cheap and don' last long. most of my customers that come in have been people that have tried to that fix and then end up getting a new complete switch in the long run.
