Signs of throw out bearing gone bad??

My T-5 is making a bad noise when i push the clutch in. The guy i bought it from said he installed a high proformance clutch and he checked it all out. The only thing he didnt replace was the throw out bearing (dont understand why he didnt replace this when he was installing the new clutch). So i was wondering what kinda signs of a bad throw out bearing was or if anyone had a throw out bearing go bad what did it sound like or what did it do. Thanks in advance.

any throw out bearing ive ever heard go bad chirps with the clutch pedal out and quiets when the pedal is pushed in. ive done several on 94-95 gt's and my 94 cobra.

It will usually rattle or kinda sound like a slight grinding noise like bad bearings whenever you press the clutch in.

sound like a bad bearing to me. is it quiet when the clutch is fully engaged?(foot off) possible pilot bearing problem?

Where do you live? In my experiences, a bad throwout bearing will make more noise when it's cold outside.

I live in Texas... yeah it makes a rattling sound when i push the clutch all the way in.

Indeed, mine screams like a hoe during this -13 degree weather. When it was warm out it would have a chirping sound when the clutch wasnt pressed in.

that's actually incorrect. That's a sign of a good t/o bearing but a mis-adjusted clutch,..hopefully you haven't pulled too many t5's for a mal-adjusted clutch. Without preload on the pressure plate, the t/o bearing will skip around contacting the pp now and then, hence the chirping. when you depress the clutch pedal slightly, it provides that slight amount of preload required that should have been dialed in with the clutch adjustment, but wasn't. the trick is to tighten the cable a little and it will take care of this noise.

In the posters case, the noise occurs when he pushes the clutch in, not when it's out, so i'd concur it's a likely t/o bearing that's gone bad.

In my experience they only make noise when the clutch pedal is depressed. With your foot off the clutch pedal no noise push the clutch pedal down and they can make a myraid of noises from grinding to squealing or whining real bad. Sounds like a bad TO bearing. Why you wouldn't put a new bearing in when replacing a clutch is beyond me.

How does one adjust the clutch cable? I've just noticed this squeaking today.

on a stock mustang, lift up the clutch pedal, then depress again. If you want adjustability, grab an aftermarket firewall adjuster and quadrant. Read the link in my sig, it explains every detail of adjusting clutches
